Information Content of Turbulence

open access: yes, 2013
We treat a turbulent velocity field as a message in the same way as a book or a picture. All messages can be described by their entropy per symbol $h$, defined as in Shannon's theory of communication.

Cognitive Impairment in Multiple Sclerosis: The Role of Clinical and Sociodemographic Factors ‐ A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Cognitive impairment (CI) affects the quality of life in multiple sclerosis (MS). Identifying influencing factors is key to improving CI monitoring. This systematic review and meta‐analysis examines clinical and sociodemographic variables impacting the cognitive screening Symbol Digit Modalities Test (SDMT) performance across MS ...

Building Logistic Spiking Neuron Models Using Analytical Approach

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Spiking neuron models are inspired by biological neurons. They can simulate the neuronal activities of the mammalian brains, such as spiking (integrator) and periodic oscillation (resonator).

Adaptation to the Edge of Chaos in the Self-Adjusting Logistic Map

open access: yes, 2000
Self-adjusting, or adaptive systems have gathered much recent interest. We present a model for self-adjusting systems which treats the control parameters of the system as slowly varying, rather than constant.

Chronic Pain in Parkinson’s Disease: Prevalence, Sex Differences, Regional Anatomy and Comorbidities

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Chronic pain affected 66.2% of 10,631 individuals with Parkinson's disease, with higher prevalence and severity in females. Pain most often involved the buttocks, lower back, neck, and knees, and was linked to depression, sleep disorders, and osteoarthritis.

A logistic map approach to economic cycles I. The best adapted companies

open access: yes, 2004
A birth-death lattice gas model about the influence of an environment on the fitness and concentration evolution of economic entities is analytically examined. The model can be mapped onto a high order logistic map.

Genetic Modifiers of Parkinson's Disease: A Case–Control Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To examine the associations of LRRK2 p.G2019S, GBA1 p.N409S, polygenic risk scores (PRS), and APOE E4 on PD penetrance, risk, and symptoms. Methods We conducted a US‐based observational case–control study using data from the 23andMe Inc. and Fox Insight Genetic Substudy (FIGS) databases.

Spatiotemporal chaos in Arnold coupled logistic map lattice

open access: yesNonlinear Analysis, 2013
In this paper, we propose a new spatiotemporal dynamics of Arnold coupled logistic map lattice (ACLML). Here, the coupling method between lattices is not a neighborhood coupling but the non-neighborhood of Arnold cat maps.

Bifurcations in Globally Coupled Map Lattices

open access: yes, 1994
The dynamics of globally coupled map lattices can be described in terms of a nonlinear Frobenius--Perron equation in the limit of large system size. This approach allows for an analytical computation of stationary states and their stability. The complete

Characteristics of Cerebral Palsy in the Midwestern US

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Cerebral palsy (CP) is the most common lifelong motor disability worldwide. Yet, data is limited on how CP manifests in the US. Our objective was to characterize and determine factors affecting functional outcomes in a large population of young people with CP in the Midwestern US.
