Exploring the Logistics Interface between Global and JIT Sourcing
International Journal of Physical Distribution & Logistics Management, 1992Two of the most pervasive trends in purchasing management during the 1980s were the increased usage of global sourcing and the development of JIT sourcing. Both practices have become quite popular because of the significant competitive benefits they provide to the firms that successfully implement them.

Just‐in‐time and logistics in global sourcing: an empirical study [PDF]
Just‐in‐time (JIT) has been written about since the early 1970s. Studies have investigated the growth of JIT sourcing and its implications. However, there has not been as much discussion of the issues faced by companies involved in the pursuit of JIT sourcing in a global supply chain.

Analysis on a diffusive SIS epidemic model with logistic source
Zeitschrift für angewandte Mathematik und Physik, 2017In this paper, we are concerned with an SIS epidemic reaction–diffusion model with logistic source in spatially heterogeneous environment. We first discuss some basic properties of the parabolic system, including the uniform upper bound of solutions and global stability of the endemic equilibrium when spatial environment is homogeneous.

A Combined Chemotaxis-haptotaxis System: The Role of Logistic Source
SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis, 2009This paper deals with a $3\times3$ chemotaxis-haptotaxis system modeling cancer invasion. The model consists of a parabolic chemotaxis-haptotaxis partial differential equation (PDE) describing the evolution of tumor cell density, an elliptic PDE governing the evolution of proteolytic enzyme concentration, and an ordinary differential equation (ODE ...

Source separation-driven reverse logistics in MSW management
Environment Systems and Decisions, 2013The research reported here characterizes municipal solid waste in terms of the quantity produced as a function of time and pre-sorting as well as post-sorting composition in a municipality with 90,000 inhabitants located in Central Brazil. It pursues the objective of identifying the basic strategy of a municipal solid waste management model specific to

Logistics Alliances: A Source of Competitive Advantage
2014Research suggests that logistics alliances are gaining in popularity as a method of competing in today’s global marketplace. Exactly what does a firm gain in forming these relationships and how can a logistics service provider add value to product offerings?

Quality of transport infrastructure and logistics as source of comparative advantage
Transport Policy, 2020Abstract Building on the well-established empirical findings on the importance of transport infrastructure and logistics for trade, this paper empirically investigates whether the quality of transport infrastructure and logistics is a source of comparative advantage in industries for which logistics services are important.

Reverse logistics sourcing models with multiproduct reliability constraints
International Journal of Modelling in Operations Management, 2013We consider a multiproduct sourcing problem where each finished product must meet explicit reliability requirements. The critical reliability of each product is determined by its components, and the objective is to source the components at a minimum cost from a combination of new and used sources while ensuring each product meets its critical ...

Operational defense sourcing: organizing military logistics in Afghanistan
International Journal of Physical Distribution & Logistics Management, 2013PurposeThis paper aims to present a study on the organization of military logistics under “hot” conditions in an expeditionary crisis response operation. The authors' main research question is: in what way is armed forces logistics sourcing organized in the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan?Design/methodology/approachTo ...

A Chemotaxis-Haptotaxis Model: The Roles of Nonlinear Diffusion and Logistic Source
SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis, 2011This paper deals with a chemotaxis-haptotaxis model of cancer invasion of tissue (extracellular matrix (ECM)). The model consists of a parabolic chemotaxis-haptotaxis PDE describing the evolution of cancer cell density, a parabolic PDE governing the evolution of matrix degrading enzyme concentration, and an ODE reflecting the degradation of ECM ...
