The proposed hybrid osprey‐salp swarm optimization algorithm addresses optimal power flow (OPF) problems in smart grids incorporating solar, hydro, and thermal generators. The algorithm is validated on Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers 30‐, 57‐, and 118‐bus test systems across five single and multiobjective OPF scenarios.

Species traits shape the relationship between local and regional species abundance distributions
The species abundance distribution (SAD) depicts the relative abundance of species within a community, which is a key concept in ecology. Here, we test whether SADs are more likely to either follow a lognormal‐like or follow a logseries‐like distribution

Some Composite ExponentialPareto Models for Actuarial Prediction [PDF]
Prediction is a very important and not so easy task for an actuary. An insurance company needs predictions of the future claims in order to evaluate premiums, to assess its financial situation, probabilities of ruin, etc.

Lognormal city size distribution and distance [PDF]
This paper analyses whether the size distribution of nearby cities is lognormally distributed by using a distance-based approach. We use data from three different definitions of US cities in 2010, considering all possible combinations of cities within a ...

ABSTRACT This paper adopts a bivariate Markov‐switching multifractal (BMSM) model to reexamine comovement in SV between commodity, foreign exchange (FX), and stock markets. After the 2007–2008 global financial crisis understanding volatility linkages and the correlation structure between these markets becomes very important for risk analysts, portfolio

The Generalized Lognormal Distribution as an Income Distribution
Introduction Over the last 100 years, a large number of distributions has been proposed for the modeling of size phenomena, notably the size distribution of personal incomes (see, for example, Kleiber and Kotz, 2003).

A Study on Zografos-Balakrishnan Log-Normal Distribution
In this article, we studied a generalization of the log-normal distribution called Zografos-Balakrishnan log-normal distribution and investigate its various important properties and functions including moments, quantile function, various reliability ...

Inequality decomposition using the Gibbs output of a Mixture of lognormal distributions [PDF]
In this paper we model the income distribution using a Bayesian approach and a mixture of lognormal densities. The size of the mixture is determined by Chib (1995)'s method.
