Fungal endophyte infection changes growth attributes in Lolium multiflorum Lam

Austral Ecology, 2005
Abstract Lolium multiflorumis a successful invader of postagricultural succession in the Inland Pampa grasslands in Argentina, becoming a dominant species in the plant community. Individual plants of this annual species are naturally highly infected with fungal endophytes (Neotyphodiumsp.) from early successional stages.

Research note: Vernalization requirements ofLolium multiflorumLam. cv. Tetrone

African Journal of Range & Forage Science, 1995
This study was undertaken mainly to attempt to understand why Italian type plants of Lolium multiflorum Lam. (Italian ryegrass) fail to become vernalised in certain climatic regions of South Africa. The vernalisation requirements of seed and plants for the induction of flowering and seed production were determined.Keywords: botany; flowering; induction;

Effects of storage temperature and combined microbial inoculants on fermentation end products and microbial populations of Italian ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam.) silage

Journal of Applied Microbiology, 2018
To examine five lactic acid bacteria (LAB) strains (LCG9, LTG7, I5, TG1 and LI3) isolated from the Tibetan Plateau, and evaluate their combined effects on the silage quality of Italian ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam.) at three temperatures (10, 15 and ...

Tetraploid Italian ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam.)

Euphytica, 1958
1. Some preliminary experiments are described with C2- and C3-generations of tetraploid Italian ryegrass. In all cases the tetraploids had a lower dry matter content than the diploids. 2. A C3-generation produced by mass selection equalled or surpassed the diploid mother strains in dry matter yield in some small experiments on several ...

Effect of varying fermentation conditions with ensiling period and inoculum on photosynthetic pigments and phytol content in Italian ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam.) silage.

Animal science journal = Nihon chikusan Gakkaiho, 2019
This study aimed to investigate the effect of an ensiling period (Experiment 1) and adding lactic acid bacteria (LAB, Experiment 2) on the changes in carotenoid, chlorophyll, and phytol in ensiled Italian ryegrass (IR, Lolium multiflorum Lam.).

Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation of Festuca arundinacea (Schreb.) and Lolium multiflorum (Lam.)

Plant Cell Reports, 2003
Agrobacterium tumefaciens strain LBA4404 carrying plasmid pTOK233 encoding the hygromycin resistance (hph) and beta-glucuronidase (uidA) genes has been used to transform two agronomic grass species: tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea) and Italian ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum).

Meiotic irregularities in diploid and tetraploid plants of Lolium multiflorum Lam.

Biologia, 2018
The genus Lolium comprises several species of economical importance in temperate countries, mostly due to their high nutritional value and adaptability to cold environments, including southern regions of Brazil. Recently, several diploid cultivars and populations, as well as synthetic tetraploid cultivars have been explored. In order to viabilize or to
