Competitive Relationships of Annual Ryegrass (Lolium Multiflorum Lam.)
Ecology, 1969Annual ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum) competition with Kentucky bluegrass, hardinggrass, Blandon brome, wild oats, tall fescue, rose clover, and with itself was studied in greenhouse and field experiments. Ryegrass in a mixture of species always had a detrimental effect on the growth of other species.

Fungal endophyte infection changes growth attributes in Lolium multiflorum Lam
Austral Ecology, 2005Abstract Lolium multiflorumis a successful invader of postagricultural succession in the Inland Pampa grasslands in Argentina, becoming a dominant species in the plant community. Individual plants of this annual species are naturally highly infected with fungal endophytes (Neotyphodiumsp.) from early successional stages.

Research note: Vernalization requirements ofLolium multiflorumLam. cv. Tetrone
African Journal of Range & Forage Science, 1995This study was undertaken mainly to attempt to understand why Italian type plants of Lolium multiflorum Lam. (Italian ryegrass) fail to become vernalised in certain climatic regions of South Africa. The vernalisation requirements of seed and plants for the induction of flowering and seed production were determined.Keywords: botany; flowering; induction;

Tetraploid Italian ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam.)
Euphytica, 19581. Some preliminary experiments are described with C2- and C3-generations of tetraploid Italian ryegrass. In all cases the tetraploids had a lower dry matter content than the diploids. 2. A C3-generation produced by mass selection equalled or surpassed the diploid mother strains in dry matter yield in some small experiments on several ...
