Self-incompatibility in Lolium perenne L. [PDF]
Self-incompatibility in Lolium perenne is shown to be controlled by a complicated multifactorial system with at least three loci. Pollen control is gametophytic. The growth of incompatible pollen tubes is usually inhibited on the stigmatic surface. The incompatibility mechanism does not appear to be particularly strong, since partial self-compatibility

Exploration of flowering control in Lolium perenne L. [PDF]
End of project reportFlowering or heading in Lolium perenne (perennial ryegrass) is induced by a period of vernalization, followed by long days at higher temperatures.

ABSTRACT Urban grasslands (UGs) are among the most abundant type of green infrastructure in cities worldwide. They deliver a range of ecosystem services and perform numerous ecosystem functions. To ensure the multifunctionality of UGs, enhancing their biodiversity is crucial; however, owing to urbanisation effects and inappropriate management, UGs ...

Ruminant agriculture suffers from inefficient capture of forage protein and consequential release of N pollutants to land. This is due to proteolysis in the rumen catalyzed by both microbial but initially endogenous plant proteases.

How does Epichloë festucae avoid the host defence response? : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Genetics at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand [PDF]
Epichloë festucae is a filamentous fungus, which forms symbiotic associations with aerial tissues of Lolium and Festuca grass species. Chitin, a polymer of N-acetyl-Dglucosamine, is an important component of the fungal cell wall and a well-known ...

Could large‐scale silicon supplementation of crop‐lands mitigate the impacts of climate change?
Intervention strategies that involve supplementing crop‐lands with silicon have significant scope for carbon capture and drought mitigation, offering wide‐ranging societal impacts. These include contributing to decarbonisation goals, enhancing food security, providing economic benefits and reducing environmental damage associated with intensive ...

When Should I Use Network Emulation? [PDF]
The design and development of a complex system requires an adequate methodology and efficient instrumental support in order to early detect and correct anomalies in the functional and non-functional properties of the tested protocols. Among the various tools used to provide experimental support for such developments, network emulation relies on real ...

Robust constraints on Lorentz Invariance Violation from H.E.S.S., MAGIC and VERITAS data combination [PDF]
Gamma-Ray bursts, flaring active galactic nuclei and pulsars are distant and energetic astrophysical sources, detected up to tens of TeV with Imaging Atmospheric Cherenkov Telescopes (IACTs). Due to their high variability, they are the most suitable sources for energy-dependent time-delay searches related to Lorentz Invariance Violation (LIV) predicted

Ocena przydatności Lolium perenne L. do mieszanek pastwiskowych na gleby torfowo-murszowe
Studies aiming to evaluate the usefulness of Lolium perenne (Polish cultivars – Anna, Arka, Maja, Rela, Solen, line SZD-291 and Dutch ones – Baristra, Barlano, Barezane) for pasture mixtures applied on peat-mursh soils were performed in 1996–2004.
