The miR319/bHLH094 Module Regulates Creeping Bentgrass Thermotolerance by Modulating Auxin Biosynthesis and Signalling Pathway

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT MicroRNA319 (miR319) has been demonstrated to regulate plant development and responses to stress such as drought and salt. However, its role in thermotolerance, particularly in cool season grasses, remains unclear. Here we report that miR319 plays a negative role in heat tolerance of creeping bentgrass (Agrostis stolonifera).

Self-incompatibility in Lolium perenne L. [PDF]

open access: yesHeredity, 1976
Self-incompatibility in Lolium perenne is shown to be controlled by a complicated multifactorial system with at least three loci. Pollen control is gametophytic. The growth of incompatible pollen tubes is usually inhibited on the stigmatic surface. The incompatibility mechanism does not appear to be particularly strong, since partial self-compatibility

Plant functional trait responses to cope with drought in seven cool-season grasses

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
In semi-arid and arid regions, the selection of suitable grass species with high-yield production, tolerance to drought stress, and potential for recovery from drought is of special importance.

Glucosinolate hydrolysis products for weed control [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Glucosinolates are allelochemicals present in all Brassica plants. Upon hydrolysis by endogenous enzymes they produce a series of biologically active compounds, such as isothiocyanates and their deriva-tives among others.

Structural Elucidation and Engineering of the (S)‐scoulerine 2‐O‐Methyltransferase Enabling Regioselective Epiberberine Biosynthesis in Coptis chinensis

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Protoberberine alkaloids are a characteristic group of natural products in Coptis plants known for their notable pharmacological activities. However, the structural similarity and the substrate promiscuity of their biosynthetic enzymes have left the precise synthetic pathways remain unclarified, posing challenges to regulate product formation.

Is stimulation of leaf photosynthesis by elevated carbon dioxide concentration maintained in the long term? A test with Lolium perenne grown for 10 years at two nitrogen fertilization levels under Free Air CO2 Enrichment (FACE) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Photosynthesis is commonly stimulated in grasslands with experimental increases in atmospheric CO2 concentration ([CO2]), a physiological response that could significantly alter the future carbon cycle if it persists in the long term.. Yet an acclimation
