First Real-Time 221.9 Pb/S∙Km Transmission Capability Demonstration Using Commercial 138-Gbaud 400 Gb/S Backbone OTN System over Field-Deployed Seven-Core Fiber Cable with Multiple Fusion Splicing

open access: yesPhotonics
The core-division-multiplexed (CDM) transmission technique utilizing uncoupled multi-core fiber (MCF) is considered a promising candidate for next-generation long-haul optical transport networks (OTNs) due to its high-capacity potential.

Mode-Dependent Loss and Gain: Statistics and Effect on Mode-Division Multiplexing

open access: yes, 2011
In multimode fiber transmission systems, mode-dependent loss and gain (collectively referred to as MDL) pose fundamental performance limitations. In the regime of strong mode coupling, the statistics of MDL (expressed in decibels or log power gain units)

Small noise asymptotic of the timing jitter in soliton transmission [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We consider the problem of the error in soliton transmission in long-haul optical fibers caused by the spontaneous emission of noise inherent to amplification.

Optimization of 40 Gbit/s transmission systems using frequency resolved optical gating characterization techniques [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
To achieve multiterabit/s capacities in long-haul transport networks, it is anticipated that wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) systems will be upgraded to operate at line rates of 40 Gbit/s.

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

Modeling of air braking process of 20 000 ton heavy haul train

open access: yes机车电传动, 2022
In view of the limited accuracy of the traction calculation method specified in the code for train traction calculation in solving the air braking process of 20 000 ton heavy haul combined trains, based on the existing air braking calculation model of ...

Intermodal Four-Wave-Mixing and Parametric Amplification in km-long Fibers

open access: yes, 2017
We theoretically and numerically investigate intermodal four-wave-mixing in km-long fibers, where random birefringence fluctuations are present along the fiber length. We identify several distinct regimes that depend on the relative magnitude between the
