Efficient and Tunable Narrowband Second‐Harmonic Generation by a Large‐Area Etchless Lithium Niobate Metasurface

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
An etchless lithium niobate (LN) metasurface with a slanted periodic TiO2 grating enables efficient and narrowband second‐harmonic generation (SHG) thanks to the light confinement in the LN film granted by quasi‐bound‐state‐in‐the‐continuum (q‐BIC) modes.

Novel Sulfur‐Rich Polymers from Inverse Vulcanization as Functional Building Blocks for Photonics

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
Isopropenyl aromatic comonomers, in particular novel 2,7‐diisopropenylfluorene and 2,8‐diisopropenyldibenzothiophene, synthesized by sustainable, facile, single‐step SMCCR from available brominated substrates are exploited in the Inverse Vulcanization process to obtain functional Sulfur‐rich macromolecular materials.

Photopatterned surface polymer-stabilized alignment (SPSA) for tunable liquid crystal long-period fiber gratings in hollow core fibers: a novel fabrication strategy inspired by SPSA

open access: yesJPhys Photonics
A novel and straightforward method for fabricating liquid crystal (LC)-based long-period fiber gratings was developed by employing a surface polymer-stabilized alignment technique in conjunction with a binary grating photomask.

From Flybys to Sample Return: A Review of Space Probes and Robotic Sampling Technologies for Small Bodies

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As a crucial puzzle piece of deep space exploration, exploring small bodies can provide significant scientific insights and valuable mineral resources. Unlike missions to the Moon and Mars, small‐body missions pose distinct technical challenges, including communication delays, weak gravity, and uncertain environments. This paper reviews a full

Effects of Sediment‐Control Operations on Fish and Macroinvertebrate Communities in Dam Reservoirs

open access: yesRiver Research and Applications, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Sediments are avoided in many river and dam managements because of their adverse effects on water usage and flood control. Recently, sedimentation control measures, including sluicing, have been employed to manage sediments in river channels and restore communities in dammed rivers.

Evaluation of prestress losses in concrete beams using destructive and non‐destructive methods

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract Over the past few decades, prestressing techniques have become essential in the construction of key structures, infrastructure, and bridges. The serviceability and safety of prestressed concrete (PC) elements are closely tied to the effectiveness of the prestressing process.

Risk factors for dental overgrowth in rabbits: A retrospective study using electronic health records

open access: yesVeterinary Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Rabbits’ teeth grow continuously. Overgrown teeth are a frequent cause for veterinary consultation and can have severe welfare implications. The risk factors for overgrown teeth are incompletely understood. Methods Rabbits with overgrown teeth recorded in their electronic health records (EHRs) were identified from a large population

Long-period gratings in chalcogenide fibers

open access: yes, 2010
