In-Fiber Subpicosecond Pulse Shaping for Nonlinear Optical Telecommunication Data Processing at 640 Gbit/s

open access: yesInternational Journal of Optics, 2012
We review recent work on all-fiber (long-period fiber grating) devices for optical pulse shaping, particularly flat-top pulse generation, down to the subpicosecond range and their application for nonlinear switching (demultiplexing) of optical time ...

High failure rate after all‐inside revision meniscal repair: Female sex and absence of ACL reconstruction increase risk

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To determine the failure rate and identify factors associated with failure following all‐inside revision meniscal repair in patients with persistent or recurrent symptoms after primary meniscal repair. Methods This was a retrospective cohort study including 108 consecutive patients who underwent arthroscopic all‑inside revision ...

Recent Advances in Photonic Bound States in the Continuum: From Fundamentals to Engineering and Implementation

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
This review summarizes recent progress in meta‐photonics with a focus on bound states in the continuum (BICs) as a powerful platform for light confinement and control. It covers fundamental concepts, design strategies across optical regimes, symmetry breaking for practical quasi‐BICs, tunable and AI‐assisted BIC devices, and emerging applications in ...

Advances in Position‐Momentum Entanglement: A Versatile Tool for Quantum Technologies

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
Position–momentum entanglement constitutes a high‐dimensional continuous‐variable resource in quantum optics. Recent advances in its generation, characterization, and control are reviewed, with emphasis on spontaneous parametric down‐conversion and modern measurement techniques.

Germanium‐Based Mid‐Infrared Integrated Photonics

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
The mid‐infrared (mid‐IR) spectral range is a part of the electromagnetic spectrum in which most of the molecules have vibrational and rotational resonances. Photonics integration in this wavelength range have thus seen a burst of interest in the recent years, mainly driven by applications related with the detection of chemical and biological ...

Stimulated Forward Brillouin Scattering in Subwavelength Grating Silicon Membranes

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
This work proposes a novel strategy to achieve large Brillouin scattering with independent control of the optical and mechanical modes using subwavelength silicon membranes. We experimentally demonstrate remarkably high Brillouin gain, resulting in an on/off Stokes gain of 3 dB and anti‐Stokes loss of 4 dB in a 6 mm‐long waveguide with 35 mW of on‐chip
