Fiber Bragg Grating Bonding Characterization under Long-Period Cyclic Loading
The Smart Landing Gear system to be developed in the framework of the ANGELA project provides the strain measurements on landing gear structure at landings, and this system should be maintained efficiently under operational conditions.

Long-period gratings in chalcogenide fibers
We report the first demonstration of long period gratings in single mode As(2)Se(3) chalcogenide glass fiber. The grating is implemented by pressing a threaded rod against a short piece of fiber. Its strength can be tuned over a 25 dB range, has high repeatability, and is fully reversible.

Long Period Gratings Formed in Depressed Cladding Fibres [PDF]
There has been a significant interest in long period gratings, primarily due to their applications in gain-flattened erbium doped fibre amplifiers [1]. Up till now, cladding modes supported by the glass-air interface of an optical fibre have been used in a forward mode coupling scheme involving also the guided fundamental mode of the optical fibre ...

Optical fibre long period grating based selective vapour sensing of volatile organic compounds [PDF]
The chemical sensing capabilities of an optical fibre long period grating (LPG) coated with a functional material are explored. The LPG period and coating thickness are chosen such that the mode transition region, characteristic of LPGs coated with ...

Modification of the refractive index response of long period gratings using thin film overlays. [PDF]
The response of a fibre optic long period grating (LPG) to the surrounding refractive index is shown to be modified by the deposition of a thin film of thickness of order 100 nm onto the cladding.

Long Period Fibre Gratings [PDF]
In essence, a long period fibre grating (LPFG) is an all-fibre device with wavelength dependent loss. As a band rejection filter, all light in a spectral slice is discarded without affecting the amplitude and phase of neighbouring wavelengths, with the additional advantage of low insertion losses and minimum backreflection (Daxhelet, 2003).

Photochemical long-period grating fabrication in pure-fused-silica photonic crystal fiber [PDF]
We report on first photochemical recording of a long-period fiber grating (LPFG) in a pure fused silica photonic crystal fiber (PCF), which is based on two-photon absorption (TPA) of high-intensity femtosecond 264 nm pulses.
