The sixty-cycle flashover of long suspension insulator strings

Journal of the A.I.E.E., 1929
This is a study of the 60-cycle flashover of strings up to voltages of 1100 kv., undertaken at the Ryan High-Voltage Laboratory, Stanford University. Investigation was made of the variations in flashover voltage for similar horizontal and vertical strings, with and without shields and tower members. An attempt has been made to correlate these flashover

Opinions are very prevalent in the field of orthopaedics. Indeed, a significant proportion of current clinical interventions are conducted on the basis of these opinions. However, all too often, these opinions lack robust scientific evidence that should arguably be in place to support their application.
