Long Term Voltage Stability Enhancement by Model Predictive Control

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2012
Power system load shedding has been used as an emergency control method to prevent possible power system instability problems. In this paper, a model predictive control based load shedding scheme is proposed to enhance long term voltage stability of a power system.

A novel criterion on judging long-term voltage stability

2008 Third International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation and Restructuring and Power Technologies, 2008
Based on the quasi-steady-state (QSS) time domain simulation and the quadratic approximation of the stability region boundary, this paper proposes a criterion on judging long- term voltage stability, and analyzes the long-term voltage stability of a one-machine and one-load system including a multiplicative generic load recovery model and an on-load ...

Network-based analysis of long-term voltage stability considering loads with recovery dynamics

, 2020
This study investigates the influence of network structures on long-term voltage stability of power systems considering loads with recovery dynamics. A power system model with load dynamics is established in terms of a network graph and the aggregate ...

Long-term voltage stability of distribution systems with induction generators

IEEE Power Engineering Society General Meeting, 2005, 2005
This paper presents an investigation about the longterm or small-disturbance voltage stability of distribution systems with induction generators by using time-domain nonlinear dynamic simulations. Results show that the presence of induction generators may decrease the system voltage stability margin.

Long Term Voltage Stability Enhancement Using Direct Dynamic Optimization Method

2010 Asia-Pacific Power and Energy Engineering Conference, 2010
This paper presents a direct dynamic optimization strategy to enhance long term voltage stability. Based on the Quasi-steady-state model, the coordinated voltage control problem is described by a differential-algebraic optimization form. The optimization problem including differential-algebraic equations is then converted into a nonlinear programming ...

Secondary voltage control applied to DFIG-based wind park and its effect on long-term voltage stability

Electric power systems research, 2019
This paper investigates the use of secondary voltage control (SVC) in a wind park based on doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) and its effect on long-term voltage stability. The performance of the SVC applied to wind park is compared with the case when

Optimal coordinated voltage control to enhance long term voltage stability using direct dynamic optimization

IEEE PES T&D 2010, 2010
This paper presents the prototype of a direct dynamic optimization strategy to enhance the long term voltage stability. Based on the Quasi-steady-state model, the coordinated voltage control problem is presented by a differential-algebra optimization form. The dynamic optimization problem is transferred to a nonlinear programming model by approximating

Optimization of the voltage window for long-term capacitive deionization stability

Desalination, 2017
Abstract Capacitive deionization (CDI) is an energy efficient desalination technology. In this study, we conducted CDI experiments under different conditions and observed severe performance degradation from 7.3 to 0.5 mg/g after 70 cycles in symmetric 1.2/0 V operation because of anode oxidation under polarization.

Control strategies for reactive shunts to improve long-term voltage stability

2013 48th International Universities' Power Engineering Conference (UPEC), 2013
Voltage collapse was one of the main causes for many recent blackouts. The direct link between voltage stability and reactive power balance in the system leads to more attention toward reactive power resources in the power systems. Shunt reactors and capacitors are used to balance reactive power in the power systems.
