Synthesis and spatial evolution of longitudinal coherence vortex

By controlling the irradiance of an extended quasi-monochromatic, spatially incoherent source with a spatial light modulator, we generated a special optical field that exhibits a high degree of coherence with phase singularities for a specific pair of points at specified locations along the axis of beam propagation.

Turbulence Receptivity of Longitudinal Vortex-Dominated Flows

The transient effect of turbulence forcing on an isolated vortex has been investigated by means of Large Eddy simulation. A dynamicmixed model is used to relate resolved and subgrid scale fluctuations in an incompressible CFD code. The initial condition is an Oseen vortex developing in a periodic box and subsequently forced by a superimposed turbulence.

Turbulence measurements of a longitudinal vortex in a turbulent boundary layer

The Reynolds stress development of a turbulent flow field including a longitudinal vortex in a flat plate boundary layer was examined in a wind tunnel experiment. The vortex was produced through interaction between a round jet and a turbulent boundary layer.
