Seabird interactions with longlining operations for Dissostichus eleginoides at the South Sandwich Islands and South Georgia [PDF]
During seven days of operations involving the setting and hauling of longlines to catch the toothfish Dissostichus eleginoides around the South Sandwich Islands, actual and potential interactions with seabirds were assessed.

Submersion of the system «anchor-tightrope» of longline
A hydrodynamic problem for the longline system «anchor-tightrope» in resting fluid is formulated and solved on base of the theory of dynamics for systems with variable mass. The system of initial differential equations is solved by means of numerical methods using the software designed in MathCad-14 environment; parameters of the «anchor-tightrope ...

Wild boars that have recently arrived in Port‐Cros National Park are reducing the reproductive success of Yelkouan shearwaters by destroying nests and predating on eggs and chicks. In the absence of measures to control the wild boar population, this would likely accelerate the decline of the Yelkouan shearwater population.

ABSTRACT The bluntnose sixgill shark (Hexanchus griseus) is classified as ‘Near Threatened’ at a global level but currently holds a ‘Least Concern’ status in the Mediterranean Sea, despite increasing fishing pressure and insufficient data. This study presents the first comprehensive stock assessment of H. griseus in north‐eastern Tunisia (GFCM GSA 13),

Seabird interactions with longlining operations for Dissostichus eleginoides around South Georgia, April to May 1994 [PDF]
Longlining operations for Dissostichus eleginoides off South Georgia were assessed for incidental mortality and interactions with seabirds. Twenty-seven line sets were observed and 98 deaths of seabirds were recorded over 20 sets; no deaths occurred ...

Total Numbers and Movements of Photo‐Identified Subantarctic (Type D) Killer Whales
ABSTRACT The distinctive Subantarctic (Type D) killer whale (DKW) (Orcinus orca) is a highly divergent and apparently inbred form previously known only from three mass strandings and several dozen at‐sea sightings, primarily from Patagonian toothfish (Dissostichus eleginoides) longline vessels in the southern Indian Ocean and from tourism vessels in ...

Technology upgradation in tuna fishery, diversification and changing pattern [PDF]
Tuna and tuna-like fishes are under-exploited resources of Indian EEZ. Exploitation of oceanic tuna and billfishes are possible only by longlining and purse seining.

Killer Whales in the Central Tropical Pacific: Occurrence, Resightings, Morphology, and Acoustics
ABSTRACT Compared to their well‐studied coastal temperate counterparts, killer whales (Orcinus orca) in tropical‐subtropical and oceanic areas are under‐documented. We used sighting, photo‐identification, and acoustic data of killer whales in the central tropical Pacific (CTP), collected from multiple platforms between 2002 and 2023, to assess their ...
