Characteristics and exploration significance of Wufeng-Longmaxi Formation stratigraphic section in Mount Huaying, Sichuan Basin

open access: yesYouqicang pingjia yu kaifa, 2022
In recent years, the exploration of Longmaxi Formation in Sichuan Basin has been successful, but the shale gas of the complex structural belt’s Longmaxi Formation are still the next areas for exploration.

Discussion on the contribution of graptolite to organic enrichment and gas shale reservoir: A case study of the Wufeng–Longmaxi shales in South China

open access: yesJournal of Natural Gas Geoscience, 2018
The graptolitic shale of the Wufeng–Longmaxi Formations is widely deposited across the Ordovician and Silurian transition in South China, which is the target of shale gas exploration and development within China.

Gas geochemistry characteristic of shale gas in Longmaxi Formation, SE Sichuan Basin, China

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science, 2017
Shale gas samples collected from Lower Silurian Longmaxi Formation of Southern Sichuan Basin in Weiyuan were analysed for stable isotope composition of noble gases and molecular composition, stable carbon isotope composition of hydrocarbons. Results show these shale gases are of organic origin gas, and produced at high-over maturity stage.

Effects of Periodic Normal Stress Oscillations on Frictional Properties of Simulated Natural Fault Gouges Under In Situ P‐T Conditions

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 8, 28 April 2025.
Abstract Induced earthquakes are occasionally associated with stress oscillations resulting from periodic industrial activities. Yet, the effects of stress oscillations on fault friction under realistic subsurface conditions are not fully clear. We conducted normal stress oscillations experiments using simulated fault gouges derived from the major ...

Characterization of mechanical properties of shale constituent minerals using phase‐identified nanoindentation

open access: yesComputer-Aided Civil and Infrastructure Engineering, Volume 40, Issue 4, Page 542-558, 4 February 2025.
Abstract Characterization of mechanical properties of shale constituent minerals (viz., the mechanical genes of shale) has been challenging but of great significance for engineering applications in shale formations. In this study, a phase‐identified nanoindentation is proposed to decode the mechanical genes of shale using a large nanomechanical dataset.

Geochemical characteristics and geological significance of shale gas from the Lower Silurian Longmaxi Formation in Sichuan Basin, China

open access: yesJournal of Natural Gas Geoscience, 2016
The shale of the Lower Silurian Longmaxi Formation has become a key target for shale gas exploration and development in China recently. The origin of carbon and hydrogen isotopic reversal in shale gas is discussed in this paper based on the analysis of ...

Analysis of gas composition and nitrogen sources of shale gas reservoir under strong tectonic events:Evidence from the complex tectonic area in the yangtze plate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Strong tectonic movement brings great risk to exploration of shale gas in southern China, especially in Lower Cambrian shale with complex tectonic backgrounds, which has good hydrocarbon-generation matter but low or no gas content.

Multi‐Criterion Stability Evaluation and Surface Boundary Method for Slopes

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Slope failure generally starts from a single point, where a local failure surface forms, and then progresses to the overall failure. Based on this behavior, this paper proposes a multi‐criterion stability evaluation approach for describing progressive failure process of slope.
