Truncated drumlins and their implication for past sea level reconstructions
Coastal erosion of glacigenic sediments, particularly in the form of retreating drumlin bluffs, is a key process in paraglacial landscape evolution during periods of relative sea‐level (RSL) rise. As marine transgression reworks formerly subaerial glacial terrains, drumlins act as discrete sediment sources generating characteristic erosional and ...

Prediction of shoreline change using a numerical model: case of the Kulon Progo Coast, Central Java [PDF]
Kulon Progo Airport is an airport development project located in the coastal area near Yogyakarta, Indonesia, which is expected to complete in 2019. With the increase in population, huge land acquisition will be difficult, so the development of coastal ...

A Simplified Model for Longshore Sediment Transport
An energetics-based longshore sediment transport model is developed which takes the form of a modification to the wave power equation. Instead of being constant, the wave power coefficient is a function of the breaker angle and the ratio of the orbital velocity magnitude and the sediment fall velocity. This modification extends the range of application

Rethinking microtidal systems: Tidal signatures in the fluvial deposits of the Po River, Italy
ABSTRACT In microtidally influenced rivers, tides are generally assumed to leave virtually no signatures in the sedimentary record. However, this hypothesis has been surprisingly poorly tested using modern river analogues, which provide an opportunity to assess whether sedimentary signatures of microtidal regimes can develop in rivers that lack ...

Longshore sediment transport in the swash zone at Desaru Beach [PDF]
This study examined the processes of longshore sediment transport in the swash zone at Desaru beach, Johor. It focused the suitability of sediment trap on sandy beach and beach profile’s survey to determine the direction of longshore transport.

Longshore Sediment Transport as a Function of Energy Dissipation
Abstract : Experiments to measure waves, currents, and sediment transport rate for two breaker types, plunging and spilling, were conducted in a large-scale three-dimensional physical model. It was found that there was a large difference in cross-shore distribution and total sediment transport rate between the two breaker types.

ABSTRACT Paralic depositional systems are complex and heterogeneous sedimentary environments, presenting challenges for predicting reservoir architecture and connectivity. Their stratigraphic and facies variability arises from the dynamic interplay between fluvial, tidal and wave processes, and their sensitivity to sea‐level fluctuations, sediment ...

Sediment resuspension and transport in the offshore subaqueous Yangtze Delta during winter storms
Storm-induced episodic sediment redistribution in coastal systems can reshape geomorphic bodies, disrupt ecosystems, and cause economic damage. However, cold-wave-storm-induced hydrodynamic changes and residual sediment transport in large, exposed ...

Beach Gold and Heavy Mineral Concentrates on Tiwai Spit Gravel Strand Plain, Southland, New Zealand
The Holocene Tiwai Spit on Foveaux Strait is a 12 km by 2 km gravel‐dominated strand plain, ∼10 m above present sea level. Gravel clasts are dominated by well‐rounded quartz cobbles, pebbles and granules derived from Otago Schist 200 km to the north in evolving river drainage systems during late Cenozoic.
