Robust Design Using Loop-Shaping
1995Loop-shaping is well accepted and widely used for scalar feedback design. For a scalar system it is a straightforward task to convert closed-loop disturbance rejection requirements into loop-shape requirements. However, when the approach is generalised for multivariable systems this task is somewhat more complicated.

A comparison of loop shaping techniques
[1991] Proceedings of the 30th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2002Three control law design techniques that shape the singular values of the loop transfer function frequency response to meet performance and robustness objectives are presented. The well known linear quadratic Gaussian synthesis with loop transfer recovery is presented as a basis of comparison with two other techniques: H/sub infinity / synthesis with ...

Directionality, coupling, and multivariable loop-shaping
Proceedings of the 27th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2003The author presents results useful in applying multivariable loop-shaping ideas to ill-conditioned plants. First, he examines the relation between open- and closed-loop properties at one loop-breaking point. He also investigates how feedback properties at one point are related, both nominally as well as robustly, to those at the other point, and ...

Loop shaping using Pontryagin's minimum principle
Proceedings of the 1999 American Control Conference (Cat. No. 99CH36251), 1999In this paper it is shown how Pontryagin's minimum principle can be used in the frequency domain to help in the controller loop shaping design process. The SISO linear time-invariant feedback system is dealt with. The problem considered is to design the controller, subject to a number of constraints, so that the output variance is minimized.

Scattering in a Loop-shaped Waveguide
2001Wave scattering is considered in a loop-shaped one-dimensional waveguide. For finite potential the problem can be reduced to a Regge type one. The conditions are obtained sufficient for a function to be the S-matrix of a problem of the class considered. The algorithm of recovering the potential from given Jost function is presented.

Weight optimisation in scriptHsign∞loop-shaping
Automatica, 2005An optimisation problem is introduced which integrates a number of steps of the standard H∞ loop-shaping design procedure. This optimisation problem maximises the robust stability margin over allowable loop-shaping weights while ensuring that the resulting loop-shape lives in a pre-defined region that characterises the desired performance ...
