Sink strength calculations of dislocations and loops using OKMC [PDF]
We calculate the sink strength of dislocations and toroidal absorbers using Object Kinetic Monte Carlo and compare with the theoretical expressions. We get good agreement for dislocations and loop-shaped absorbers of 3D migrating defects, provided that the volume fraction is low, and fair agreements for dislocations with 1D migrating defects.

Microwave diagnostics of magnetic field strengths in solar flaring loops [PDF]
We have performed microwave diagnostics of the magnetic field strengths in solar flare loops based on the theory of gyrosynchrotron emission. From Nobeyama Radioheliograph observations of three flare events at 17 and 34 GHz, we obtained the degree of circular polarization and the spectral index of microwave flux density, which were then used to map the

An assessment of the strength of knots and splices used as eye terminations in a sailing environment [PDF]
Research into knots, splices and other methods of forming an eye termination has been limited, despite the fact that they are essential and strongly affect the performance of a rope.

Open-loop recycling of post-consumer PET to closed-loop chemically recyclable high-performance polyimines [PDF]
Intriguing high-performance polyimines (PI) were designed from diamines recovered by open-loop recycling of postconsumer PET bottles by microwave-assisted aminolysis.

An open-loop approach to study the stochastic properties [PDF]
Randomness is an inevitable aspect of biological networks. It has been long accepted that variability of components in a network can propagate throughout the network. In this thesis, we introduce a method that allows us to decompose the total variability

Dependence of Coronal Loop Temperature on Loop Length and Magnetic Field Strength
Abstract The temperature characteristics of solar coronal loops over a wide range of lengths and magnetic field strengths are investigated by means of numerical simulations. A very high correlation between magnetic field strength (B 0) and maximum temperature (T max) is found.

We report feedback-induced frequency oscillations using a power-split-ratio through asymmetric dual-loop optical feedback (Loop I: ~2.2 km and Loop II: ~20 m) subject to a self-mode-locked two-section QDash laser emitting at 1550 nm and operating at 21 ...
