Abstract The issues surrounding micro- and nanoplastics (MPs and NPs) are gaining importance as the knowledge about their distribution and impacts on the environment and human health grows. In order to gain a better understanding about the occurrence of those plastic particles and the pollution of different freshwater systems, the project ...

Aim The benzoxaborole derivative DNDI‐6148 is an antiparasitic agent with activity against multiple Leishmania protozoan species, including L. infantum and L. donovani, which cause visceral leishmaniasis. We investigated the safety, tolerability and pharmacokinetics of single oral doses of DNDI‐6148 in a randomized, parallel‐group, placebo‐controlled ...

A method validation for simultaneous determination of phthalates and bisphenol A released from plastic water containers [PDF]
Phthalates (or phthalate esters, PAEs) and bisphenol A (BPA) are widely used in various industries, particularly in the fields of cosmetics and packaging, and they increase the malleability and workability of materials.

Reliable eDNA detection and quantification of the European weather loach (Misgurnus fossilis).
The European weather loach (Misgurnus fossilis) is a cryptic and poorly known fish species of high conservation concern. The species is experiencing dramatic population collapses across its native range to the point of regional extinction.

Levofloxacin is a widely used antibiotic included in rifampicin‐resistant tuberculosis (RR‐TB) treatment. Data describing levofloxacin concentrations in breastmilk and infant exposure are limited. We analysed data from two South African studies of breastfeeding women receiving levofloxacin (750–1000 mg daily) for RR‐TB.

An all-glass microfluidic network with integrated amorphous silicon photosensors for on-chip monitoring of enzymatic biochemical assay [PDF]
A lab-on-chip system, integrating an all-glass microfluidics and on-chip optical detection, was developed and tested. The microfluidic network is etched in a glass substrate, which is then sealed with a glass cover by direct bonding.

Integrating non‐chromatographic operations, such as low pH viral inactivation and a depth filtration mimic, into an automated micro‐scale platform enhances productivity while reducing resource and time requirements. By facilitating rapid, data‐rich experimentation, the platform offers a powerful and efficient tool for assessing and optimizing ...

Quantification of Dehydroepiandrosterone, 17β-Estradiol, Testosterone, and Their Sulfates in Mouse Tissues by LC-MS/MS. [PDF]
We report a high-performance, liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS) assay to quantify without derivatizaton dehyroepiandrosterone (DHEA), 17β-estradiol (E2), testosterone (T), and their sulfates in serum and tissues.
