Transverse Geometry of Lorentzian foliations with applications to Lorentzian orbifolds

open access: yes
We prove a transverse diameter theorem in the context of Lorentzian foliations, which can be interpreted as a Hawking--Penrose-type singularity theorem for timelike geodesics transverse to the foliation. In order to develop the necessary machinery we introduce and study a novel causality structure on the leaf space via the transverse Lorentzian ...

An exciting Approach to Theoretical Spectroscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Theoretical spectroscopy, and more generally, electronic‐structure theory, are powerful concepts for describing the complex many‐body interactions in materials. They cover methods from ground‐state properties to lattice excitations and light‐matter interaction, including time‐resolved variants.

Hexagonal Boron Nitride on Liquid and Single‐Crystal Copper: Operando X‐Ray and Atomistic Insights into Growth and Interfacial Structure

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Liquid metal catalysts are widely assumed to promote high‐quality 2D growth. In this work, operando experiments and machine‐learning‐accelerated simulations show that hBN on Cu breaks this graphene‐derived expectation, where molten Cu promotes multilayer/3D growth, but re‐solidified single‐crystal Cu stabilizes monolayer formation.

Fully Programmable Slow Light Based on a Spinor Representation of Generalized Coupled‐Resonator‐Induced Transparency

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A programmable coupled‐resonator‐induced transparency (CRIT) platform is proposed, generalizing classical electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) via a spinor representation. By utilizing dual‐channel gauge fields and universal unitary operations, this architecture enables dynamically engineered, reconfigurable slow‐light bands on a silicon ...

Lorentzian approach to noncommutative geometry

open access: yes, 2011
This thesis concerns the research on a Lorentzian generalization of Alain Connes' noncommutative geometry. In the first chapter, we present an introduction to noncommutative geometry within the context of unification theories. The second chapter is dedicated to the basic elements of noncommutative geometry as the noncommutative integral, the Riemannian

Optimized Antimony‐Doped Tin Oxide Thin Films With Enhanced Electrical Properties for Low‐Emissivity Architectural Coatings

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Antimony‐doped tin oxide (ATO) thin films were deposited by aerosol‐assisted chemical vapor deposition (AACVD) and systematically investigated to establish correlations between Sb doping level, structural properties and optoelectronic performance. Optimized films exhibited low sheet resistance, high carrier concentrations, and high visible transparency

Ductile B2 Intermetallics‐Driven Strength‐Ductility Synergy in Heterolaminated Multi‐Principal Element Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Intrinsic phase toughening transforms a brittle B2 intermetallic into a plastically deformable, load‐bearing phase, while a heterogeneous laminated architecture suppresses strain localization and interface cracking. The synergy between ductile intermetallics and mesoscale heterogeneity establishes a general design strategy for breaking the long ...

Red Blood Cells as Endogenous Biotweezers for Optical Micromanipulation In Vivo

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By synergistically integrating the long‐distance manipulation fiber probe (LDMFP) and endogenous red blood cells (RBCs) as biocompatible optical elements, a natural RBC biotweezer was developed for the desired microparticle manipulation and immune cell activation within living vasculature, which might offer an alternative tool for intravital optical ...

Finslerian extension of an anisotropic strange star in the domain of modified gravity

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
In this article, we apply the Finsler spacetime to develop the Einstein field equations in the extension of modified geometry. Following Finsler geometry, which is focused on the tangent bundle with a scalar function, a scalar equation should be the ...

Terahertz‐Nanoscale Visualization of the Microscopic Spin‐Charge Architecture of Colossal Magnetoresistive Switching

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study employs cryogenic magneto‐terahertz nanoscopy to reveal the real‐space electrodynamics of the colossal magnetoresistance transition. By capturing the terahertz electrodynamic evolution of field‐driven spin switching, the work unveils the dissipative dynamics of emergent metallic states, providing a high‐frequency view of coupled spin‐charge ...
