Room‐temperature lower‐polariton‐like lasing is realized in an InGaN/GaN thin‐film ridge cavity with lateral distributed Bragg reflectors. Near‐field optical microscopy distinguishes the transverse side‐DBR‐confined mode from a longitudinal photon‐like mode, while simulations reproduce their spatial profiles.

Micro‐transfer printing enables GaAs and InP gain materials to be integrated on a commercial silicon nitride photonic platform. The resulting chip supports O‐ and C‐band comb and single‐mode lasers, demonstrating a scalable route toward multi‐material, multi‐wavelength, and multifunctional integrated light sources.

Nonlocal leaky mode metasurfaces reconstruct multiplexed holograms directly from unfiltered thermal light. High‐Q leaky guided modes compress broadband halogen emission into narrowband channels, enhancing temporal coherence a hundredfold, while a single nanohole array encodes independent images addressed by mode, angle, and polarization, establishing ...

Temporal interfaces are abrupt refractive index changes used in time‐varying optics, but also transitions to nonequilibrium states. This work explores the inelastic scattering of time‐varying light by nonthermal acoustic phonons in the vicinity of temporal interfaces.

Lithography‐aligned micro‐transfer printing integrates unprocessed InAs/GaAs quantum dot membranes with silicon nitride photonic circuits. Post‐transfer patterning defines quantum dot photonic devices directly on the target chip, enabling precise GaAs–SiNx coupling, purcell‐enhanced single photon emission, and scalable on‐chip routing and correlation ...

Toward Low‐Power Laser Refrigeration ‐ Cooling a Resonant WGM Crystalline Cavity
Laser refrigeration offers a method to cool solids to low temperatures by using only light. By illuminating bulk crystals doped with rare‐earth ions one can engineer the emitted fluorescent light to be at shorter wavelengths than the pump light ‐ thus extracting heat/phonons from the solid and cooling the crystals.
