A Loss Function for Alpha Factor Analysis
Psychometrika, 1984Most of the factor solutions can be got by minimizing a corresponding loss function. However, up to now, a loss function for the alpha factor analysis (AFA) has not been known. The present paper establishes such a loss function for the AFA. Some analogies to the maximum likelihood factor analysis are discussed.

A statistical analysis of loss factor to determine the energy losses
2008 IEEE/PES Transmission and Distribution Conference and Exposition: Latin America, 2008Given that the total amount of losses in a distribution system is known, with a reliable methodology for the technical loss calculation, the non-technical losses can be obtained by subtraction. A usual method of calculation technical losses in the electric utilities uses two important factors: load factor and the loss factor. The load factor is usually

The Impact of Male Factor on Recurrent Pregnancy Loss
Postgraduate Obstetrics & Gynecology, 2007The present paper reviews the current literature on the impact of male factor on recurrent pregnancy loss. Most clinicians focus their evaluation of recurrent pregnancy loss on the female, without much, if any, consideration of the other half of the couple - the male. Yet, the male contributes one-half of the genes for the embryo.

Abstract This chapter provides many relationships for the effective calculation of coupling loss factors. All cases of interest are reviewed: point-connected subsystems, line-connected subsystems, and area-connected subsystems. The importance of transmission efficiency is highlighted.

Genetic Factors in Recurrent Pregnancy Loss
Seminars in Reproductive Medicine, 2000Technologies such as fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) are facilitating analysis of tissue that cannot be cultured. Increasing recognition and knowledge of confined placental mosaicism are giving us greater appreciation of the role of aneuploidies in cases of spontaneous and recurrent abortion.

Loss factor of a beaded structure
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1995It is found that when beads are inserted into the interior of a pipelike structure, the damping of the beaded structure may substantially exceed that of the unbeaded structure. The beads are modeled by a ‘‘beaded fluid’’ characterized by a low density, a low sound speed, and a high loss factor.

How to Factor Loss is a collection of poems and translations prefaced by a critical paper over Robert Hass's “Meditation at Lagunitas.” The preface, “A Sensuous Theory, A Sensuous Poem,” explores how Hass merges the discourses of theory and poetry to create a poem that hangs suspended between a confidence and an anxiety about language.

Loss by SUICIDE: A Risk Factor for Suicidal Behavior
Journal of Psychosocial Nursing and Mental Health Services, 20031. Data show suicidal behavior often is precipitated by individuals' experience of loss by suicide. This article focuses on three potential links between the two phenomena (i.e., grief experienced by suicide survivors and familial risk factors for suicide; suicide clusters and pacts; consequences of mass media portrayals of suicide). 2.

A Factor Analysis of Reservoir Losses
Water Resources Research, 1970Analyses of loss rates from five floodwater detention reservoirs in cavernous terrain are presented. Thirteen variables were included in a factor analysis to determine those significant for estimating reservoir loss rates. Three variables were found to be significant for one reservoir, but the accuracy of estimate of loss rate was not significantly ...
