Heat Transfer and Pressure Loss in Small-Scale Pillow-Plate Heat Exchangers

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2018
In this work, an experimental study of heat transfer between air and water in a small-scale pillow-plate heat exchanger (PPHE) consisting of two pillow plates assembled together in one unit was carried out.

Modelling Productivity Loss from Heat Stress

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2018
Workers exposed to high ambient temperatures, either indoors or out, work slower. The few studies that have measured this loss of productivity show a degree of consistency across widely varying settings.

Loss of heat‐shock acquisition of thermotolerance in yeast is not correlated with loss of heat‐shock proteins [PDF]

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 1986
Yeast cells when subjected to a primary heat shock, defined as a temperature shift from 23 to 37° for 30 min, acquired tolerance to heat stress (52°C/5 min). Primary heat shocked cells incubated at 23°C for up to 3 h, progressively lost thermotolerance but retained high levels of the major heat‐shock proteins as observed on polyacrylamide gels.

Studying the parameters of indoor air in premises with infrared heaters

open access: yesBudownictwo o Zoptymalizowanym Potencjale Energetycznym, 2020
The main causes of human heat loss are convection, conduction, radiation and evaporation. Conductive heat loss is so small that it can be considered alongside convective heat loss. The most characteristic factor of heat loss is radiation. As a result

The Influence of Central Regulation Methods upon Annual Heat Loss in Heating Network

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2016
For directly buried hot water heating network, heat loss per unit length can be calculated by the thermal theory of heating network, then the calculating method of annual heat loss would be deduced.

Heat loss prevention in neonates [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Perinatology, 2008
Maintaining a neutral thermal environment is one of the key physiologic challenges a newborn infant faces after delivery. Attention to detail regarding the management of an infant's neutral thermal environment may lead to improvement in clinical outcome, including improved survival. The details of this management cover a broad spectrum of interventions,

Heat loss may explain bill size differences between birds occupying different habitats. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Research on variation in bill morphology has focused on the role of diet. Bills have other functions, however, including a role in heat and water balance.

Machine learning surrogate modeling toward the design of lattice-structured heat sinks fabricated by additive manufacturing

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2023
Metal additive manufacturing (AM) enables the fabrication of lattice-structured heat sinks with enhanced heat transfer properties. The lattice structural features for enhancing heat transfer and suppressing pressure loss need to be clarified. To describe

Numerical analysis of a heat loss of channel-free heat pipeline in the real application conditions

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2015
The results of mathematical modeling of heat regimes of channel-free heat pipeline, as well as numerical analysis of heat loss of channel-free heat pipeline in conditions of freezing ground and the presence of snow cover area were given. The laws of heat
