Machine learning surrogate modeling toward the design of lattice-structured heat sinks fabricated by additive manufacturing

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2023
Metal additive manufacturing (AM) enables the fabrication of lattice-structured heat sinks with enhanced heat transfer properties. The lattice structural features for enhancing heat transfer and suppressing pressure loss need to be clarified. To describe

Numerical analysis of a heat loss of channel-free heat pipeline in the real application conditions

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2015
The results of mathematical modeling of heat regimes of channel-free heat pipeline, as well as numerical analysis of heat loss of channel-free heat pipeline in conditions of freezing ground and the presence of snow cover area were given. The laws of heat

Numerical analysis of the influence of the design type of the channel of heat network on its thermal conditions and heat loss

open access: yesИзвестия высших учебных заведений: Проблемы энергетики, 2017
The results of the numerical analysis of thermal regimes and heat loss of the two-channel underground heating networks with using the convective-conductive model of heat transfer are presented. The two-dimensional coupled stationary problem of convective-

Climate change and the kidney [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The worldwide increase in temperature has resulted in a marked increase in heat waves (heat extremes) that carries a markedly increased risk for morbidity and mortality.

Development of a low-temperature driven absorption chiller with vapour exchange double-lift absorption cooling cycle (Experimental proof of 7 ℃ chilled water output driven by 60 ℃ hot water with a prototype)

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2022
Conventional single-effect absorption chillers require an 80~90 ℃ heat source to supply 7~8 ℃ chilled water for air conditioning applications. However, it is difficult to recover lower temperature heat sources such as 60 ℃ hot water with single-effect ...

HEAT LOSS DURING ANAESTHESIA

open access: yesBritish Journal of Anaesthesia, 1978
The superficial and deep body temperatures of 23 patients were studied during prolonged anaesthesia for microscopic surgery of the fallopian tubes. The patients were divided randomly into three groups, receiving either halothane 0.5%, halothane 1% or low-dose fentanyl as a supplement to nitrous oxide, oxygen and myoneural block.

Heating in the Accreted Neutron Star Ocean: Implications for Superburst Ignition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We perform a self-consistent calculation of the thermal structure in the crust of a superbursting neutron star. In particular, we follow the nucleosynthetic evolution of an accreted fluid element from its deposition into the atmosphere down to a depth ...

Loss of heat‐shock acquisition of thermotolerance in yeast is not correlated with loss of heat‐shock proteins [PDF]

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 1986
Yeast cells when subjected to a primary heat shock, defined as a temperature shift from 23 to 37° for 30 min, acquired tolerance to heat stress (52°C/5 min). Primary heat shocked cells incubated at 23°C for up to 3 h, progressively lost thermotolerance but retained high levels of the major heat‐shock proteins as observed on polyacrylamide gels.

Heat shock induces rapid resorption of primary cilia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Primary cilia are involved in important developmental and disease pathways, such as the regulation of neurogenesis and tumorigenesis. They function as sensory antennae and are essential in the regulation of key extracellular signalling systems.
