Predictive Models for Storage Modulus and Loss Modulus of Asphalt Mixtures

Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering, 2016
AbstractComplex modulus of an asphalt mixture constitutes two components: E′ representing the ability of the mixture to store energy (elastic behavior), and E′′ reflecting the capacity of the material to dissipate energy (viscous behavior). The main objective of this study was to develop predictive equations for the two components, E′ and E′′, to ...

Determining elastic modulus from dynamic mechanical analysis: A general model based on loss modulus data

Materialia, 2018
Abstract Dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) method is used to measure viscoelastic properties such as storage and loss moduli of materials. The present work is focused on developing a generalized model that allows transforming the storage and loss moduli obtained from DMA to time domain elastic modulus values.

Substrate loss modulus promotes the differentiation of SHSY-5Y neuroblastoma cells

Materialia, 2021
Abstract Moduli of the extracellular matrix influence multiple cellular functions such as proliferation, migration, senescence, and differentiation. However, the in vitro studies predominantly consider the Young's (or elastic) modulus of the substrate, and the independent role of its loss (or viscous) modulus, is often not acknowledged. In this work,

Oscillatory measurements of silicone oils ?Loss and storage modulus master curves

Rheologica Acta, 1996
The work describes a way to obtain loss modulus and storage modulus master curves from oscillatory measurements of silicone oils. The loss modulus master curve represents the dependence of the viscous flow behavior on ω·η 0 * and the storage modulus master curve — the dependence of the elastic flow ...

Dynamic Young's modulus and loss factor of floor covering materials

Applied Acoustics, 1996
Abstract The dynamic Young's modulus and loss factor of typical floor covering materials (felt, cork, solid PVC and PVC foam) have been measured as functions of frequency and strain amplitude in the range of 10 1 to 10 4 Hz and 10 −5 to 10 −2 , respectively, in order to clear up the role of material behaviour in the improvement of impact sound ...

Polymer Molecular Weight from Loss Modulus

Polymer Journal, 1992
The method for the determination of polymer molecular weight and molecular weight distribution from transient and dynamic viscoelastic properties of a narrow molecular weight distribution linear amorphous polymer with Mw>Mc has been discussed in our previous work.

MAPPING STORAGE MODULUS AND LOSS MODULUS OF POLYOLEFIN/POLYSTYRENE BLENDS WITH ATOMIC FORCE MICROSCOPY

Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 2012
ABSTRACT The storage modulus and loss modulus of blends of polypropylene/polystyrene and polyethylene/polystyrene have been mapped quantitatively with contact resonance atomic force microscopy. Contact resonance spectra were collected in Dual AC Resonance Tracking (DART) mode, in which the phase and amplitude are monitored at two discrete ...

Evaluation of the area under linear loss modulus‐temperature curves

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1991
AbstractThe area under the linear loss modulus‐temperature curves, LA, has been shown to be related to the chemical composition of the material. In addition, it can be significantly affected by morphology in multicomponent polymer systems. To characterize LA quantitatively, base‐line corrections for instrumental contributions to LA were evaluated by ...

Relationship between loss-modulus and homologous temperature in superplastic alloys

Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry, 2009
A study of loss modulus values was conducted for three different metal alloys, in both superplastic and non-superplastic condition, using Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA). Results showed a direct relationship between loss modulus values and the homologous superplastic temperature for each of the three different metal alloys that were studied.

Pressure loss modulus correlation for Delta-p across uniformly distributed-loss devices

AIAA Journal, 1994
A dimensionless group, called a pressure loss modulus (N(sub PL)), is introduced that, in conjunction with an appropriately defined Reynolds number, is of considerable engineering utility in correlating steady-state Delta p vs flow calibration data and subsequently as a predictor, using the same or a different fluid, in uniformly distributed pressure ...
