Integrated Lossy, Near-lossless, and Lossless Compression of Medical Volumetric Data

We propose an integrated, wavelet based, two-stage coding scheme for lossy, near-lossless and lossless compression of medical volumetric data. The method presented determines the bit-rate while encoding for the lossy layer and without any iteration.

Abstract The Mars 2020 mission has explored depositional environments recorded in a fan‐shaped deposit on the western side of Jezero crater. Kodiak butte is an isolated outcrop of sedimentary rock ∼1 km south of the western fan scarp and may be an erosional remnant of said fan.

Lossless, Near-Lossless, and Refinement Coding of Bi-level Images

We present general and unified algorithms for lossy/lossless codingof bi-level images. The compression is realized by applying arithmetic coding to conditional probabilities. As in the current JBIG standard the conditioning may be specified by a template.

Abstract Processes at the ice–ocean interface play a central role in regulating the stability of marine‐terminating glaciers and ice sheets and drive ocean freshening and mixing. Iceberg calving—a mechanical loss of ice—generates ocean waves and promotes water‐mass exchange in glacierized bays.
