As mentioned in Chap. 1, data compression describes methods of representing a source by a code whose average codeword length (or code rate) is acceptably small. The representation can be lossless (or asymptotically lossless) where the reconstructed source is identical (or identical with vanishing error probability) to the original source; or lossy ...

Lossless Compression Techniques for Low Bandwidth Io Ts
2020 Fourth International Conference on I-SMAC (IoT in Social, Mobile, Analytics and Cloud) (I-SMAC), 2020In the recent years, Internet of things (IoT) has become an integral part of the modern digital ecosystem. It has the ability to handle the tasks smartly for many different situations. Therefore, it is one of the main technologies for autonomous systems.

Wearable EEG via lossless compression
2016 38th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC), 2016This work presents a wearable multi-channel EEG recording system featuring a lossless compression algorithm. The algorithm, based in a previously reported algorithm by the authors, exploits the existing temporal correlation between samples at different sampling times, and the spatial correlation between different electrodes across the scalp.

Lossless compression of AVIRIS images
IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 1996Adaptive DPCM methods using linear prediction are described for the lossless compression of hyperspectral (224-band) images recorded by the Airborne Visible/Infrared Imaging Spectrometer (AVIRIS). The methods have two stages-predictive decorrelation (which produces residuals) and residual encoding.

Lossless hyperspectral compression using KLT
IEEE International IEEE International IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2004. IGARSS '04. Proceedings. 2004, 2004We propose an algorithm for the construction of a nearly optimal integer to integer approximation of the Karhunen-Loeve Transform. The algorithm is based on the method of P. Hao and Q. Shi as described in [1] but-unlike described in the paper-we vary the pivoting in order to obtain a better approximation of the linear transform.

Lossless Compression of Cytometric Data
Cytometry Part A, 2019AbstractNowadays, most cytometrists apply lossless compression by storing their FCS files in ZIP archives. Unfortunately, ZIP only achieves modest space savings in cytometric data, due to DEFLATE being used as the underlying lossless compression algorithm (LCA).

Lossless compression of seismic data
SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 1996, 1996A lossless method for seismic data compression has been developed. The method uses the idea of converting a signal data compression problem into a text compression problem. The conversion is based on data slicing, a reformatting process where the binary representation of a data set is rearranged, effectively separating compressible from uncompressible ...

Lossless compression of already compressed textures
Proceedings of the ACM SIGGRAPH Symposium on High Performance Graphics, 2011Texture compression helps rendering by reducing the footprint in graphics memory, thus allowing for more textures, and by lowering the number of memory accesses between the graphics processor and memory, increasing performance and lowering power consumption.

Perceptually lossless image compression
Proceedings DCC '97. Data Compression Conference, 1997Summary form only given. This paper presents an algorithm for perceptually lossless image compression. The approach utilizes properties of the human visual system in the form of a perceptual threshold function (PTF) model. The PTF model determines the amount of distortion that can be introduced at each location of the image.

Lossless data compression techniques
Proceedings of WESCON '94, 2002Data compression, all of a sudden in the 1990s, has become a huge market. Virtually all operating systems now contain some data compression utility. Compression software packages or plug-in boards can more than double storage capacity in PC disc drives. The data compression method in the V.42bis modem standard, used by more than 50 modem manufacturers,
