microRNA‐7‐5p and α‐Synuclein SAA Predict Parkinson's Disease Phenoconversion

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Corroborate blood neuron‐derived extracellular vesicle (NDEV) alpha‐synuclein (αSyn), the CSF αSyn seed amplification assay (αSyn‐SAA), and blood microRNA‐7‐5p (miR‐7‐5p) as markers for Parkinson's disease (PD) phenoconversion and determine if combining these markers would help select subjects who would be more likely to phenoconvert.

β‐Catenin/c‐Myc Axis Modulates Autophagy Response to Different Ammonia Concentrations

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, Volume 9, Issue 3, March 2025.
Ammonia, detoxified by the liver into urea and glutamine, impacts autophagy differently at varying levels. Low ammonia activates autophagy via c‐Myc and β‐catenin, while high levels suppress it. Using Huh7 cells and Spf‐ash mice, c‐Myc's role in cytoprotective autophagy is revealed, offering insights into hyperammonemia and potential therapeutic ...

DOE lost circulation technology development [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Lost circulation is a problem common in both the geothermal and the solution mining industries. In both cases, drilling is on a relatively large scale (geothermal holes can be as large as 26 inches). Lost circulation technology development for geothermal

Electrospun Wood‐Derived Biopolymers as Electrodes in Electrochemical Energy Storage Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Electrospinning transforms wood‐derived cellulose and lignin into architecturally defined, binder‐free carbon electrodes with tuneable porosity and functionality. This review shows how fibre design enables decoupled charge and mass transport, enhancing performance across battery systems, while identifying key challenges in spinnability, scalability ...

Biodegradable 3D‐Printable and Coatable Antifouling Composites for Marine Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Marine biofouling damages submerged surfaces and raises greenhouse gas emissions. Biodegradable antifouling biocomposites were developed by hot‐mixing beeswax, Tween 80, and calcium stearate or stearic acid. Adjusting the component ratio enables processing via hot‐pressing, 3D‐printing, or dip‐coating.

New Developments in the Control of Lost Circulation [PDF]

open access: yesFall Meeting of the Petroleum Branch of AIME, 1955
Abstract Laboratory and field tests were conducted for the purpose of improving techniques for the control of loss of circulation of drilling fluids and to determine some effects of lost circulation materials on drilling fluids and drilling rates.
