A review on lot streaming problems with transportation activities
Lot streaming is the process that splits the productionlot into sublots and streams these sublots among the machines with regard to some performance criteria. A performance criterion can be time-based (e.g., makespan) or cost-based (e.g., total cost), while some studies consider both of them together.

Improving FMS scheduling by lot streaming
The global minimum of completion time for manufacturing systems is determined by the processing capacities of the bottleneck machine-group. How to go close to this minimum for given production tasks is analysed in the paper. Lot streaming can significantly improve the schedules.

Fostering Innovation: Streamlining Magnetocaloric Materials Research by Digitalization
Magnetocaloric cooling (MCE) is an environmentally friendly refrigeration method with great potential. Optimizing MCE materials involves the preparation and screening of large quantities of samples, which in turn generates a large amount of data. A digitalization approach is presented that uses ontologies, knowledge graphs, and digital workflows to ...

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Robust production planning and control for multi-stage systems with flexible final assembly lines [PDF]
Production planning of final assembly systems is a challenging task, as the often fluctuating order volumes require flexible solutions. Besides, the calculated plans need to be robust against the process-level disturbances and stochastic nature of some ...
