Multiculturalism, Majority Rights and the Established Culture

open access: yesNations and Nationalism, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Recent critiques of multiculturalism contend that it is the ethnic or cultural majority in Western democracies that is now most vulnerable to cultural and identity dissolution, thus entitling it to majority rights on much the same grounds that multiculturalists defend minority rights. These critiques follow and perpetuate the binary opposition

Role of BK Virus CTLs in the Treatment of BK Virus–Associated Nephropathy in Kidney‐Transplant and Hematopoietic Cell Transplant Recipients

open access: yesTransplant Infectious Disease, EarlyView.
Third‐party, BK virus‐specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) were safe and effective in reducing viremia in kidney and stem cell transplant recipients with BK virus nephropathy. However, they did not improve kidney function. Earlier administration may be more beneficial before nephropathy and irreversible damage occur.

Mechanisms underlying local Ca2+ signalling differences between right and left atrial myocytes at normal and increased frequencies

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Left atrial myocytes have TAT‐associated faster Ca2+ release but are more prone to maladaptation at higher frequencies due to weaker peripheral SR Ca2+ uptake and smaller trigger Ca2+ current. Abstract Changes in heart rate affect Ca2+ signalling and contractility in ventricular muscle, but the effects on atrial Ca2+ signalling ...

High‐Purity Functional Corneal Endothelial Cells From Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells via a Novel Wash‐Out Method

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2026.
iPSC‐derived corneal endothelial cells purified via a novel wash‐out method show high functional fidelity, resemble primary CECs, and restore corneal clarity in vivo, offering a scalable alternative to donor transplantation. ABSTRACT Corneal endothelial failure can cause blindness, with transplantation as the only treatment.

Mitochondrial Ca2+ overload is a pivotal risk factor for lethal ventricular arrhythmias due to the oxidation of mitochondrial respirasome and energetic failure

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 7, Page 1404-1426, April 2026.
The data that support the findings of this study are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request. Some data may not be made available because of privacy or ethical restrictions. Background and Purpose Ventricular arrhythmias are a leading cause of death among patients with cardiovascular diseases and are associated with elevated ...

Exploring the Relationship Between General Motor Activity and Optimal Actigraphy Sleep Configurations: A Systematic Review

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, Volume 35, Issue 2, April 2026.
ABSTRACT This study aimed to determine the optimal configuration of wrist actigraphy for detecting sleep–wake patterns in adults with varying categories of general motor activity (Aim 1), and to assess its validity in relation to polysomnography (Aim 2).

Importance of interaction between the matrix effect and microbial metabolism in the bioavailability of lignans

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 106, Issue 4, Page 2180-2189, 15 March 2026.
Abstract BACKGROUND Plant‐lignans are polyphenols with low bioavailability and bioactivity that are transformed by the intestinal microbiota into enterolignans. Our hypotheses are: (i) the way in which plant‐lignans are ingested in the diet affects, in a decisive way, the microbial metabolism of these compounds and (ii) an increase in lignan ...

Chromones as Nonclassical Inhibitors of Carbonic Anhydrase IX and XII Isoforms: Probing Chromone‐Based Derivatives

open access: yesArchiv der Pharmazie, Volume 359, Issue 3, March 2026.
Chromone‐based derivatives were synthesized and evaluated for selective inhibition of tumor‐associated carbonic anhydrases IX and XII. Structure–activity relationships, docking studies, and ADMET profiling revealed promising candidates with selective tumoral isoform inhibition, supporting their potential as anticancer leads. ABSTRACT A small library of

Trends and Insights in Arab Audit Research: A Bibliometric Exploration

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Administrative Sciences / Revue Canadienne des Sciences de l'Administration, Volume 43, Issue 1, March 2026.
ABSTRACT This study employs bibliometric analysis to investigate audit research trends across five Arab countries—Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Tunisia and the United Arab Emirates—each reflecting distinct sociopolitical, economic and legal contexts.
