Additions to the Checklist of the Louse Flies (Diptera: Hippoboscidae) of Kenya

open access: yesAfrican Entomology, 2016
The first comprehensive Kenyan hippoboscid checklist is presented. All reliable and available data of louse flies (Diptera: Hippoboscidae) from Kenya are summarised. First records of two species of louse flies from Kenya are given: Icosta (Icosta) mecorrhina Maa, 1964 and Ornithomya marginalis Maa, 1964.

Multi‐Biomimetic Structural Colors Inspired by Pearls and Bird Feathers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A dual‐biomimetic strategy mimicking pearls and bird feathers is proposed to construct full‐gamut structural colors. By integrating a non‐strictly periodic inorganic multilayer architecture with tunable light absorbers, this facile approach circumvents the complex fabrication of traditional 1D photonic crystals, offering immense potential for cosmetics,

Microfabrication of Soft Millirobots Propelled by Low Voltage Electrohydraulic Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Manual layer‐by‐layer assembly is replaced by wafer‐level MEMS batch fabrication for compliant polymer‐based electrohydraulic actuators. The microfabricated devices integrate sacrificially defined microcavities, Parylene‐C‐sealed inlets, and multilayer polymer–metal films.

The first record of Promyialges uncus (Acariformes: Epidermoptidae) on the louse fly Ornithomya chloropus (Diptera: Hippoboscidae) in the subpolar Ural

open access: yesPersian Journal of Acarology, 2021
The feather mite Promyalges uncus Vitzthum, 1934 is a permanent ectoparasite, all stages of which are located on the skin of its hosts. It has phoretic relations with louse flies (Diptera: Hippoboscidae) parasitizing birds.
