Psychological Reports, 1978Correlations were computed between the SAMPLE Profile (a test measuring the extent to which a person identifies with one of six distinct concepts of love), and Rubin's scales for Loving and Liking. Rubin's Love Scale was most related to the giving ( r = .52), possessive ( r = .46), and friendship ( r = .26) styles of loving.

In Plato's Dialogues one can trace the transition and transformation of the mythical view on love into philosophical conceptualizations. The waning of the mythical point of view created the demand for man to know himself, and love became a puzzle.
