Low Cost Heart Rate Monitor Using Led-Led Sensor

open access: yesAl-Khawarizmi Engineering Journal, 2009
A high sensitivity, low power and low cost sensor has been developed for photoplethysmography (PPG) measurement. The PPG principle was applied to follow the dilatation and contraction of skin blood vessels during the cardiac cycle.

A Low-Cost, Low-Power Water Velocity Sensor Utilizing Acoustic Doppler Measurement

open access: yesSensors, 2022
Current commercial sensors to monitor water flow velocities are expensive, bulky, and require significant effort to install. Low-cost sensors open the possibility of monitoring storm and waste water systems at a much greater spatial and temporal ...

Low-cost oil quality sensor based on changes in complex permittivity.

open access: yes, 2011
Real time oil quality monitoring techniques help to protect important industry assets, minimize downtime and reduce maintenance costs. The measurement of a lubricant's complex permittivity is an effective indicator of the oil degradation process and it ...

A low-power, low-cost, chamber-based CO2 sensor

open access: yesFrontiers in Water
Soil CO2 fluxes are a key component of the terrestrial carbon cycle. However, these fluxes are notoriously expensive to measure, especially in remote and understudied regions.

Acoustic tamper detection sensor with very low false alarm rate

open access: yes, 2008
We describe a device designed to detect interference (vandalism or tampering) by acoustic means. The design employs both a piezoelectric vibration transducer and a common microphone in a novel mechanical arrangement.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
