Low cycle fatigue of aluminum foam
Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2009Abstract An experimental investigation into the tension-compression fatigue behavior and failure mode of closed-cell aluminum foam was conducted. Alporas aluminum foam specimens, of 8.7% average relative density, were subjected to fully reversed axial fatigue at nominal total strain amplitudes ranging from 0.05% to 0.5%.

Materials Characterization, 2019
Low cycle fatigue tests for P92 heat-resistant steels (P92 HRS) were conducted at room temperature (RT) and elevated temperature (873 K). The fatigue test results showed that P92 steel showed softening characteristics during fatigue at RT and 873 K, and ...

Low Cycle Fatigue of Cast Austenitic Steel
2017Cast austenitic stainless steel 1.4848 is used to manufacture automotive exhaust system components. Low cycle fatigue (LCF) of 1.4848 austenitic steel was investigated through strain controlled fatigue testing at strain rates of 0.02/s, 0.002/s, and 0.0002/s in the temperature range from room temperature (RT) to 900°C.

LOW‐CYCLE FATIGUE OF MATERIALS FOR SUBMARINE CONSTRUCTION
Naval Engineers Journal, 1963<div class="htmlview paragraph">Materials for submarine construction were investigated to determine their low-cycle flexural fatigue behavior. Botl ferrous and nonferrous materials, including five steels with yield strengths of 40,000-230,000 psi, five nickel base, six aluminum base, and three copper base alloys were used in the study ...

A low-cycle fatigue approach to fatigue crack propagation
Journal of Materials Science, 1989The damage accumulation hypothesis is used to derive a fatigue crack growth rate equation. The fatigue life of a volume element inside the plastic zone is evaluated by using low-cycle fatigue concepts. Crack growth rate is expressed as a function of cyclic material parameters and plastic zone characteristics.

The major fatigue loading for a turbocharger intercooler on a lorry engine is the once per day start up and cool down cycle. The intercooler is made from an aluminium alloy whose properties are given below. The critical location for fatigue failure is known from finite element models to experience an equibiaxial, in-phase proportional strain cycle ...
