Effect of interleukin-6 receptor blockade on surrogates of vascular risk in rheumatoid arthritis: MEASURE, a randomised, placebo-controlled study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Objectives The interleukin-6 receptor (IL-6R) blocker tocilizumab (TCZ) reduces inflammatory disease activity in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) but elevates lipid concentrations in some patients.

Digitonin‐Loaded Nanoscale Metal–Organic Framework for Mitochondria‐Targeted Radiotherapy‐Radiodynamic Therapy and Disulfidptosis

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A mitochondria‐targeted cationic nanoscale metal organic framework shows strong radiotherapy‐radiodynamic therapy effects and selectively releases digitonin in acidic tumor microenvironments to induce disulfidptosis of cancer cells and downregulate immune checkpoints in cancer and T cells, thereby eliciting strong antitumor immunity to effectively ...

Relation between insulin resistance and fast-migrating LDL subfraction as characterized by capillary isotachophoresis

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2005
The proportion of the electronegative low density lipoprotein [LDL(−)] subfraction, which is atherogenic, is increased in type 2 diabetes but is not reduced by glycemic control.

Identification of a danger-associated peptide from apolipoprotein B100 (ApoBDS-1) that triggers innate proatherogenic responses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Background: Subendothelial deposited low-density lipoprotein particles are a known inflammatory factor in atherosclerosis. However, the causal components derived from low-density lipoprotein are still poorly defined.

Identification and isolation of endothelial cells based on their increased uptake of acetylated-low density lipoprotein

open access: yesJournal of Cell Biology, 1984
Acetylated-low density lipoprotein (Ac-LDL) is taken up by macrophages and endothelial cells via the "scavenger cell pathway" of LDL metabolism. In this report, aortic and microvascular endothelial cells internalized and degraded 7-15 times more [125I ...

Plaque‐Targeted Delivery of Fluoride‐Free MXene Nanozyme for Alleviating Atherosclerosis via Sonocatalytic Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work has developed a dual enzyme‐mimicking and ultrasound‐responsive Nb2C‐Pt@HA‐PEG nanozyme. ROS‐eliminating and antiinflammatory capability of Nb2C‐Pt@HA‐PEG under US irradiation are demonstrated on macrophages and endothelial cells in vitro. Nb2C‐Pt@HA‐PEG‐mediated sonocatalytic therapy exerts an outstanding anti‐atherosclerosis efficacy by ...

Minimally modified low density lipoprotein induces monocyte chemotactic protein 1 in human endothelial cells and smooth muscle cells.

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, 1990
After exposure to low density lipoprotein (LDL) that had been minimally modified by oxidation (MM-LDL), human endothelial cells (EC) and smooth muscle cells (SMC) cultured separately or together produced 2- to 3-fold more monocyte chemotactic activity ...

Engineering CRISPR System‐Based Bacterial Outer Membrane Vesicle Potentiates T Cell Immunity for Enhanced Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study develops a multifunctional CRISPR‐dCas9‐based OMV platform termed OMV‐C9I12, which facilitates the coexpression of CXCL9 and IL‐12 within tumor cells. This platform enhances T cell recruitment and activation, synergizes with anti‐PD‐1/PD‐L1 immunotherapy, and amplifies antitumor T cell immunity.

Intracellular trafficking of pigeon β-very low density lipoprotein and low density lipoprotein at low and high concentrations in pigeon macrophages

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2000
Foam cell formation occurs in vitro at lipoprotein concentrations above 50 μg/ml in pigeon macrophages. Hypothetically, intracellular trafficking of lipoproteins at higher concentrations may differ from uptake of lipoproteins associated with low ...

Lipoprotein particles in patients with pediatric Cushing disease and possible cardiovascular risks. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
BackgroundCardiovascular (CV) complications are the most significant cause of mortality in adults with Cushing disease (CD); little is known about CV risk factors in children with CD.
