Oxidative stress and low dose ionizing radiation.

Indian journal of physiology and pharmacology, 2010
The field of radiation biochemistry has provided tremendous impact in recent years as extensive research on free radicals has implicated them in radiation damage. An important offshoot of this field is the branch dealing with radiological protection in medical applications like diagnostic radiology.

[Analysis of the effects of low doses of ionizing radiation].

Meditsinskaia tekhnika, 2002
The paper analyzes the data available in the literature and the authors' own findings relating to the effects of low-dose ionizing radiation on biological objects, which confirm a higher likelihood of general somatic diseases upon exposure to small dosages (as low as 200 meq).

Health Effects of Ionizing Radiation in the Low‐Dose Rangea

Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 1983
The health effects of low-dose ionizing radiation on human populations are discussed. The problems of estimating the health effects of low-level ionizing radiation, contributions to the literature on somatic and genetic risks (referring also to a few large studies that are in the design or data collection stage), and whether or not a revision of ...

A Quantitative Biological Test Sensitive to Low Doses of Ionizing Radiations

Nature, 1954
THE important linear dose-effect relationship which is observed in the induction of mutations with ionizing radiations and which has been verified down to 25 r. has not been satisfactorily investigated below this value1.

Estimating Cancer Risks from Low Doses of Ionizing Radiation

Science, 1980
Disagreements about the somatic risks from low doses of ionizing radiation stem from two difficulties fundamental to the logic of inference from observational data. First, precise direct estimation of small risks requires impracticably large samples. Second, precise estimates of low-dose risks based largely on high-dose data, for which the sample size ...

[Neuromorphological effects of low doses of ionizing radiation].

Aviakosmicheskaia i ekologicheskaia meditsina = Aerospace and environmental medicine, 2012
Morphological methods were used to study several segments of the rat's brain after gamma-irradiation by 10, 20, 50 and 100 cSv. Tissue samples were investigated shortly after dose delivery, in 24 hours, and after 6, 12, 18 and 24 months since irradiation. Neurons were shown to be sensitive to radiation.
