Sound Absorption at Low Frequencies: Modelling a Test Room
Building Acoustics, 2006A description is given of sound absorption in small-furnished rooms at low frequencies. The objective of the work was to characterise room absorption and to develop a model of surface absorption appropriate for a modal description of contained sound fields at low frequencies.

Sound Absorption at Low Frequencies: Room Contents as Absorbers
Building Acoustics, 2007A description is given of sound absorption in small-furnished rooms at low frequencies. The objective of the work was to characterise room absorption due to contents such as furniture and to develop a model of absorption appropriate for a modal description of contained sound fields at low frequencies.

Low frequency sound absorption by compliant Helmholtz resonators
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2019A traditional Helmholtz resonator is a rigid-walled cavity and an open neck, which result in one acoustic resonance. In this study, a soft-walled cavity with an open neck, a compliant Helmholtz resonator, is investigated for broadband and large absorption of sound at low frequencies.

Origin of the low-frequency sound absorption in sea water
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1973Temperature-jump measurements in sea water over the time domain 10−5 to 10−2 sec reveal a single relaxation of 1.5×10−4 sec at 9.7°C, which appears to correspond to the ∼ 1 kHz relaxation found from long-range sound propagation. Laboratory measurements indicate the relaxation to originate from boron with the B(OH)3-B(OH)4− equilibrium the likely ...

Simulation research on low frequency sound absorption of monostable metamaterials
INTER-NOISE and NOISE-CON Congress and Conference Proceedings, 2021The monostable acoustic metamaterial is realized by placing a flexible panel with a magnetic proof mass in a symmetric magnetic field. The theoretical model of monostable metamaterials has been proposed. The method of finite element simulation is used to verify the theoretical model.

A simple arrangement for measuring sound absorption at low frequencies
Applied Scientific Research, Section B, 1950In a preceding issue of this journal1) Kosten describes the relation between the electrical behaviour of a loudspeaker, movable in a tube which is closed at the side opposite the loudspeaker by an acoustical sample, and the acoustical absorption coefficient α of the sample.

Low-frequency sound absorption and attenuation in marine medium
Acoustical Physics, 2000Original experimental data are analyzed on the low-frequency sound attenuation in the Mediterranean, Black, and Baltic Seas, Sea of Japan, and the north-western region of the Pacific Ocean. In these regions, waters significantly differ in their temperatures and salinities.

Improvement of Low Frequency Sound Absorption in a Room
Applied and Computational EngineeringLow-frequency noise (LFN) poses significant challenges in noise control due to its long wavelengths and ability to penetrate barriers. This study introduces a novel metamaterial-based absorber optimized for low-frequency sound attenuation using a multicoiled structure.

Atmospheric Absorption of Low Frequency Sound at High Pressures.
1976Abstract : Results of a limited experimental study of atmospheric absorption in moist air at low frequencies are reported. The measurements were carried out in a resonance absorption tube at ratios of frequency to pressure of 4.6 to 403 Hz/atm. This extends the f/P range of laboratory measurements of absorption in air well below limits of previously ...

Low frequency sound absorption measurements - limits and ideas
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2008Many (standardised) measurement procedures for sound absorption rely on geometrical approximations or statistical approaches. They fail whenever the limit of geometrical acoustics is reached. Also many room acoustic modeling procedures assume geometrical spreading of sound and neglect the wave characteristics of sound waves.
