Low frequency sound absorption of resonators with flexible tubes

Proceedings of Meetings on Acoustics, 2013
Classically, passive acoustic liners, used in aeronautic engine nacelles to reduce radiated fan noise, have a quarter-wavelength behavior, thanks to perforated sheets backed to honeycombs (SDOF, DDOF). So, their acoustic absorption ability is naturally limited to medium and high frequencies because of constraints in thickness.

A Theory of Low Frequency Sound Absorption in Soda-Silica Glasses

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1948
This paper deals with the theory of a class of relaxation mechanisms which may in part account for the absorption of sound in certain solids. The basic postulates of Eyring's theory of absolute reaction rates are applied to the development of general differential equations describing structural-chemical state changes.

Geographic variation of low frequency sound absorption in the Pacific Ocean

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1979
A contour chart of the Pacific Ocean shows the variation in the boric acid sound absorption term as determined by the pH value at the SOFAR axis.
