Low-Level Windshear and Its Impact on Airlines

open access: yesJournal of Aviation/Aerospace Education & Research, 2005
The hazards posed by low-level windshear are an important issue in commercial aviation. Extensive research into methods for coping with low-level windshear has been continuing for many years.

Characteristics of low-level wind shear in Qinghai Xining Airport

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2019
Abstract Characteristics of low-level wind shear in Qinghai Xining Airport are analysed by using pilot reports and reanalysis data. It manifests seasonal and diurnal variation that the frequency is higher in spring and summer, and for diurnal variation, it is higher in afternoon and early night.

Rafting of Ni‐Based Superalloys Under Multiaxial Load as Understood by Phase‐Field Simulations and Critical Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.

Additive Manufacturing of Continuous Fibre Reinforced Composites: Process, Characterisation, Modelling, and Sustainability

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing provides precise control over the placement of continuous fibres within polymer matrices, enabling customised mechanical performance in composite components. This article explores processing strategies, mechanical testing, and modelling approaches for additive manufactured continuous fibre‐reinforced composites.

Karl Popper and the Mechanisms of Hydrogen Embrittlement

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Representation of the beginning of loss of ductility rather than embrittlement. Small concentrations of hydrogen in a diffusible form within iron are well‐established to harm the mechanical integrity of steels. There are theories that attempt to explain the pernicious role of hydrogen.

Characterization of the offshore wind dynamics for wind energy production in the Gulf of Lion, Western Mediterranean Sea

open access: yesWind Energy and Engineering Research
A ground-based wind lidar system has been deployed on a coastal landmass off Marseille in the Gulf of Lion, western Mediterranean Sea. This location holds significant relevance as it anticipates the imminent deployment of floating wind farms.

Creep‐Induced Microstructural Evolution in an A2‐B2 Superalloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A 27.3Ta‐27.3Mo‐27.3Ti‐8Cr‐10Al (at.%) refractory high‐entropy alloy with precipitation‐strengthened A2‐B2 microstructure was studied by creep tests at 1030°C, which demonstrate a transition in deformation mechanisms in the range of 100–150 MPa applied stress. This is associated with changes in dislocation–precipitate interactions. Relevant deformation

Diagnosis and Numerical Simulation of Low-level Wind Shear over the Hengduan Mountains in Winter

open access: yes应用气象学报
Cangyuan Washan Airport, located at Delong Mountain in the Hengduan Mountains, is prone to low level wind shear during takeoff and landing in winter, which is of great harm to aviation safety, and aviation departments attach great importance to it. It is
