SPECTRAL SOFTENING BETWEEN OUTBURST AND QUIESCENCE IN THE NEUTRON STAR LOW-MASS X-RAY BINARY SAX J1750.8-2900 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Tracking the spectral evolution of transiently accreting neutron stars between outburst and quiescence probes relatively poorly understood accretion regimes.

A Light Redback Companion of PSR J1622–0315 and Irradiation Power in Spider Systems

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
We report optical observations of the millisecond pulsar binary system PSR J1622–0315 with the Lulin 1 m telescope in Taiwan and the Lijiang 2.4 m telescope in China between 2019 and 2021.

New periodic variable stars coincident with ROSAT sources discovered using SuperWASP [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We present optical lightcurves of 428 periodic variable stars coincident with ROSAT X-ray sources, detected using the first run of the SuperWASP photometric survey. Only 68 of these were previously recognised as periodic variables.

Three Additional Quiescent Low-Mass X-Ray Binary Candidates in 47 Tucanae [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We identify through their X-ray spectra one certain (W37) and two probable (W17 and X4) quiescent low-mass X-ray binaries (qLMXBs) containing neutron stars in a long Chandra X-ray exposure of the globular cluster 47 Tucanae, in addition to the two ...

Long-term Quasiperiodicity in LMXB 4U 1636–536

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
We present the results of the low-mass X-ray binary 4U 1636–536 study. We performed a temporal analysis of all available RXTE/All-Sky Monitor, RXTE/Proportional Counter Array, Swift/Burst Alert Telescope, and MAXI data collected until the middle of 2022.

Infrared identification of hard X-ray sources in the Galaxy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The nature of the low- to intermediate-luminosity (LX ∼ 1032–34 erg s−1) source population revealed in hard band (2–10 keV) X-ray surveys of the Galactic plane is poorly understood.

A Lack of Radio Emission from Neutron Star Low‐Mass X‐Ray Binaries [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2005
We report strict upper limits to the radio luminosities of three neutron star low-mass X-ray binaries obtained with the Very Large Array while they were in hard X-ray states as observed with the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer: 1E 1724-307, 4U 1812-12, and SLX 1735-269.

Reflection and Timing Study of the Transient Black Hole X-Ray Binary MAXI J1803-298 with NuSTAR

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
The transient black hole X-ray binary MAXI J1803−298 was discovered on 2021 May 1, as it went into outburst from a quiescent state. As the source rose in flux it showed periodic absorption dips and fit the timing and spectral characteristics of a hard ...

High-Frequency Variability in Neutron-Star Low-Mass X-ray Binaries [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Binary systems with a neutron-star primary accreting from a companion star display variability in the X-ray band on time scales ranging from years to milliseconds. With frequencies of up to ~1300 Hz, the kilohertz quasi-periodic oscillations (kHz QPOs) represent the fastest variability observed from any astronomical object.
