Low-velocity impact behavior of fiber metal laminates
Journal of Composite Materials, 2011The low-velocity impact response of a range of fiber metal laminate (FML) panels was investigated through testing and finite element simulations. The objective of this study was to understand the impact-damage resistance of these novel composites, so that they can be designed optimally for impact-resistant aircraft applications.

Instrumentation of low velocity impact facility
2017 International Conference on Computing Methodologies and Communication (ICCMC), 2017Our solar system can be mainly defined as a system of objects orbiting around Sun. Among these are mainly Planets and their moon after them we have asteroid and Kuiper belt other than them there are objects with elliptical orbits with high eccentricity or not bound to Sun at all. These objects are smaller in size and comets come into this class.

Low-Velocity Impact Response of a Composite Structural Battery
2023Recently, ambitious targets have been set out in various branches of transportation to restrict pollutant emissions and to combat environmental degradation. In this frame, with specific reference to the aeronautic field, new designs incorporating electric or hybrid-electric propulsion systems on board aircraft face the problem of penalizing battery ...

LOW-VELOCITY PROJECTILE IMPACT ON SPACECRAFT
Acta Astronautica, 2000Abstract Various impact phenomena are encountered in space, among which debris impacts are of most concern. In terms of velocity range of the impacts, structural hazard at very large velocity of over a few km/s is much investigated. However, lower velocity impacts can also be encountered, with similar fatal effects to spacecraft.

Low Velocity Impact of Marine Composites: Experiments and Theory
2020This chapter seeks to provide an overview on the dynamic behavior of Navy-relevant composite materials to low velocity impact, at room and extreme temperatures. The study focuses on carbon fiber laminates toward establishing a compelling body of empirical results, which could support numerical and semi-empirical models for the prediction of dynamic ...

Low Velocity Impact of a Viscoelastic Beam
Journal of Engineering for Industry, 1982A theoretical solution for the response of a viscoelastic beam to off-center low speed transverse impact is presented. The flexural model adopted for investigation consists of a uniform Bernoulli-Euler beam whose behavior has been generalized to include a linear viscoelastic constitutive relation for each element of the beam.

Filling the gap between hypervelocity and low velocity impacts
International Journal of Impact Engineering, 2019Abstract During more than one decade of studying initiation phenomenology numerous papers at the previous HVIS and other symposia ([1] - [12]) were published. Most of them dealt with the hypervelocity impact initiation of plastic bonded high explosive charges by shaped charge jets (SCJ) and a few ones reported results in the ordnance ...

Control of Low-Velocity Impact Response in Composite Plates
Journal of Vibration and Control, 2000An active control strategy for controlling impact response in composite plates is proposed. A linear quadratic regulator (LQR) controller is designed based on a reduced-order model that captures the essential dynamics of the system. Simulations results show that the proposed controller reduces the energy transferred to the structure.

Composite materials response under low-velocity impact
Composite Structures, 1984Abstract A simple model, based on energy considerations, has been tested to predict the maximum contact force during a low-velocity impact between an impactor and a composite plate. Three different composites, i.e. glass cloth-polyester, carbon cloth-polyester and nylon cloth-polyester, were examined.

An Electromyographic Study of Low-Velocity Rear-End Impacts
Spine, 2002Experimental analysis was performed to determine the effects of low-velocity rear-end impacts on phasic and magnitudinal activity of the cervical muscles in expected and unexpected conditions. To determine the phasic response of the cervical muscles to increasing low-velocity rear-end impacts, and to compare the quantitative effects of awareness and ...
