Chemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.Three new polycyclic aromatic compounds consisting of one or two five‐membered rings were synthesized by Scholl reaction or Pd‐catalyzed cyclization from fused anthracene derivatives. X‐ray analysis and DFT calculations revealed that these compounds have slightly twisted or curved structures.
