Improving Microgrid Low-Voltage Ride-Through Capacity Using Neural Control

IEEE Systems Journal, 2020
In this article, a neural sliding-mode linearization controller is proposed to regulate the generated active and reactive power for each distributed energy resource in a microgrid. The developed controller is based on recurrent high-order neural network identification, trained online with an extended Kalman filter learning algorithm.

The current control of PV inverter for low voltage ride through

2012 15th International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference (EPE/PEMC), 2012
The objective of this paper is to propose a maximum current amplitude control (MCAC) for the Photovoltaic (PV) power system with the low-voltage ride-through (LVRT) behaviour. The proposed MCAC strategy can generate the demanded active and reactive power depending on the output power condition of the PV array and the power rating of the grid-tied ...

Improvement low-voltage ride-through control of DFIG during grid faults

2014 International Conference on Multimedia Computing and Systems (ICMCS), 2014
This paper presents an improvement control to enhance Low-voltage Ride-through (LVRT) capability of a doubly fed induction generator (DFIG). The DFIG is very sensitive to grid fault. When voltage dip occurs, there are overvoltage and a transition of the current in rotor winding.

A study of low voltage ride-through capability for offshore wind power plant

2011 IEEE International Conference on Smart Grid Communications (SmartGridComm), 2011
Electric power produced by renewable energy resources has been increased drastically, where the wind generation plays the dominant role in supplying green energy. Due to the limited available sites for onshore wind farms, offshore wind generation has attracted much attention in recent years.

Low voltage ride through capability of fuel cell generation system connected to low voltage network

2011 IEEE Conference on Clean Energy and Technology (CET), 2011
New grid code is expected to require distributed generation units operating parallel with the low voltage grid to ride through low voltage event and at the same time injecting reactive current into the grid. The paper discusses and highlights the problems that could arise and explores the solutions to mitigate these problems.

Voltage rise mitigation and low voltage ride through capabilities for grid-connected low voltage microgrids

2017 19th European Conference on Power Electronics and Applications (EPE'17 ECCE Europe), 2017
The total real power injected by distributed renewable energy sources (RES) in the low voltage (LV) grids can cause voltage rise effects during light load scenarios. Integrating RES in microgrid architectures can result in improved power quality of the electrical grid, by avoiding the voltage rise effect from occurring and also by providing ancillary ...
