Ion-induced low-energy electron diffraction

Physical Review A, 2004
${\mathrm{H}}^{+}$ and ${\mathrm{He}}^{+}$ ions with an energy of $25\phantom{\rule{0.3em}{0ex}}\mathrm{keV}$ are scattered under a grazing angle of incidence from a clean and flat $\mathrm{Cu}(001)$ surface. For specific azimuthal orientations of the crystal surface with respect to low index directions in the surface plane we observe the ion induced ...

Low-Energy Electron Diffraction

1990
The essential elements are an ultrahigh vacuum (UHV) chamber to preserve surface cleanliness, an electron gun to produce a collimated beam of electrons in the energy range 0 to 500 eV, a crystal holder and manipulator, and some means of observing the diffracted electrons, typically a fluorescent screen.

Low energy electron diffraction rocking curves

Surface Science, 1969
Abstract The variation of specularly reflected beam intensity with angle of incidence and incident beam energy from the (110) surface of a tungsten single crystal for incident electron energies in the 300–600 eV range and for angles of incidence within 15° of the surface normal was found to have a structure that could only be explained in dynamical ...

Spin-polarised low-energy electron diffraction

Journal of Physics C: Solid State Physics, 1981
A review is given of elastic spin-polarised low-energy electron diffraction (SPLEED) from crystalline surfaces. For the two relevant spin-dependent interaction mechanisms, spin-orbit coupling, and exchange, dynamical theories are presented with emphasis on symmetry principles, potential models and multiple scattering formalisms.
