Tailoring metal–organic hybrid interfaces: heteromolecular structures with varying stoichiometry on Ag(111)

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2015
The physical properties of interfaces between organic semiconductors and metal surfaces crucially influence the performance of organic electronic devices. In order to enable the tailoring of such metal–organic hybrid interfaces we study the adsorption of

Ultrahigh-brightness 50 MeV electron beam generation from laser wakefield acceleration in a weakly nonlinear regime

open access: yesMatter and Radiation at Extremes
We propose an efficient scheme to produce ultrahigh-brightness tens of MeV electron beams by designing a density-tailored plasma to induce a wakefield in the weakly nonlinear regime with a moderate laser energy of 120 mJ.

Theory of Low-Energy Electron Diffraction

open access: yesZeitschrift für Naturforschung A, 1967
A method for calculating the intensities of diffracted waves in low energy electron diffraction by crystals is proposed. The elastic multiple scattering is fully taken into account. The cellular method of KOHN and ROSTOKER in the band theory of metals is applied to the integral equation of the scattering by two dimensional lattices, particularly by ...

Theory of Low-Energy Electron Diffraction

open access: yesZeitschrift für Naturforschung A, 1968
The method of calculating the intensities of waves in low-energy electron diffraction (LEED) which was applied in Part I to monatomic layers is generalized and applied to complex monolayers and multilayers. Using the “muffin-tin” model, which is widely used in the band theory of metals, the wave function is expanded in spherical harmonics on the ...

Ultrafast electron dynamics upon above band-gap excitation in epitaxial LaFeO3(001) thin films

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics
Strong electron correlations in perovskite oxides give rise to rich and often unexpected electronic phenomena. In this study, we present a comprehensive surface-science investigation of epitaxial thin films of the charge-transfer insulator LaFeO _3 (001).

Photoinduced dynamics during electronic transfer from narrow to wide bandgap layers in one-dimensional heterostructured materials

open access: yesNature Communications
Electron transfer is a fundamental energy conversion process widely present in synthetic, industrial, and natural systems. Understanding the electron transfer process is important to exploit the uniqueness of the low-dimensional van der Waals (vdW ...

Catalysts for electrochemical generation of oxygen [PDF]

open access: yes
Several aspects of the electrolytic evolution of oxygen for use in life support systems are analyzed including kinetic studies of various metal and nonmetal electrode materials, the formation of underpotential films on electrodes, and electrode surface ...
