Adjunctive Therapeutic Plasma Exchange in Refractory Adult‐Onset Still's Disease Complicated by Secondary Macrophage Activation Syndrome: A Single‐Center Experience

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Adult‐onset Still's disease (AOSD) complicated by macrophage activation syndrome (MAS) carries substantial mortality. The role of therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) remains uncertain. Methods We retrospectively analyzed patients with AOSD‐MAS treated with TPE at a single‐center.

Highly Transparent Broadband and Polarization-Insensitive Absorber Based on Metasurface

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
A highly transparent polarization-insensitive metamaterial absorber with wideband microwave absorption is presented. The broadband absorption (6.0~16.7 GHz, absorptance > 85%) is achieved using three patterned resistive metasurfaces.

A low profile radiating element with nearly hemispheric coverage for satellite communications on-the-move hybrid array antenna [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
A novel design solution of a dual-linearly polarised Ku-band low-profile radiating element for low elevation angle coverage (down to 10° above horizon) is presented. Such an element is suitable for full-duplex Satellite Communications On-The-Move (SCOTM)

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Low-Profile Filtering End-Fire Antenna Integrated With Compact Bandstop Filtering Element for High Selectivity

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
A high-selectivity low-profile filtering end-fire antenna is proposed using a bandstop filtering (BSF) element integrated into the feedline of the conventional quasi-Yagi antenna. Three transmission zeros (TZs) and six transmission poles (TPs) of the BSF

A comparison of the strong lensing properties of the Sersic and the NFW profiles

open access: yes, 2007
We investigate the strong lensing properties of the Sersic profile as an alternative to the NFW profile, focusing on applications to lens modelling of clusters.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Low-Profile High-Gain and Wide-Angle Beam Scanning Phased Transmitarray Antennas

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Combining the inherent multiple beam capabilities of transmitarray antennas (TAAs) and the flexible fields launched by phased array antennas (PAAs), PAA-fed TAAs are proposed in this paper for high-gain and wide-angle beam scanning in millimeter-wave ...

Keeping a Low Profile? [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 2018 CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems, 2018
Undocumented immigrants in the United States face risks of discrimination, surveillance, and deportation. We investigate their technology use, risk perceptions, and protective strategies relating to their vulnerability. Through semi-structured interviews with Latinx undocumented immigrants, we find that while participants act to address offline threats,
