A Strategy for Predicting Transonic Compressor Performance at Low Reynolds Number

open access: yesAerospace
A low Reynolds number (Re) environment leads to severe deterioration in compressor performance, and it is necessary and challenging to accurately predict performance at a low Re during the design phase of a compressor.

A 'reciprocal' theorem for the prediction of loads on a body moving in an inhomogeneous flow at arbitrary Reynolds number - CORRIGENDUM [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Several forms of a theorem providing general expressions for the force and torque acting on a rigid body of arbitrary shape moving in an inhomogeneous incompressible flow at arbitrary Reynolds number are derived.

Engineering Morphological Anisotropy to Control the In Vivo Transport Dynamics, Clearance, and Biodistribution of Silica Nanocarriers

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Morphological anisotropy directs the in vivo transport under physiological flow and clearance of silica nanocarriers. Increasing anisotropy reduces cellular uptake, suppresses hepatic and splenic sequestration, and prolongs systemic circulation by steering particles toward the central flow core.

The Harmonic Pitching NACA 0018 Airfoil in Low Reynolds Number Flow

open access: yesEnergies
This study investigates the aerodynamic performance of a symmetric NACA 0018 airfoil under harmonic pitching motions at low Reynolds numbers, a regime characterized by the presence of laminar separation bubbles and their impact on aerodynamic forces. The

Sound radiation in turbulent channel flows [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Lighthill’s acoustic analogy is formulated for turbulent channel flow with pressure as the acoustic variable, and integrated over the channel width to produce a two-dimensional inhomogeneous wave equation.

Designing Tissue Function Through Embedded Bioprinting Architectures

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Embedded bioprinting enables soft, cell‐dense constructs to be fabricated within supporting bath environments. This review introduces a function‐guided framework linking target tissue functions to architectural requirements, supporting bath selection, bioink design, printing dynamics, and validation assays.

Responsive Open Microfluidic Logic for Mechanical Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Coupling elasticity with capillarity transforms mechanical compression into binary fluidic states, enabling deterministic logic in open microfluidic circuits. This work demonstrates that computation can emerge from interactions between mechanic and fluidic domains, establishing a general strategy for embedding information processing directly within ...

Micro/Nanoscale Acoustic Manipulation: From Particle Control to Autonomous Microswimmers

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This conceptual framework illustrates acoustic technology as a multifunctional platform enabling passive particle manipulation across scales and autonomous propulsion of microswimmers. ABSTRACT Acoustic manipulation and propulsion technologies have emerged as powerful platforms for micro/nanoscale control, enabled by their non‐contact operation, label ...
