Low Reynolds Number Flow Around Tori of Different Slenderness Γ
We present the results of axisymmetric and three-dimensional numerical simulations of the flow around a torus in the low Reynolds number regime [ 10 − 2 ; 3 × 10 3 ] and aspect-ratio 0 < Γ = 2 a / R ≤ 2 (core diameter ...

Many-body effects and matrix inversion in low-Reynolds-number hydrodynamics [PDF]
It is shown that the method of reflections in resistance form (with truncated multipoles) is one of many possible iterative methods to obtain the inverse of the mobility matrix (with the same truncation) in low-Reynolds-number hydrodynamics. Although the

Effective swimming strategies in low Reynolds number flows
The optimal strategy for a microscopic swimmer to migrate across a linear shear flow is discussed. The two cases, in which the swimmer is located at large distance, and in the proximity of a solid wall, are taken into account.

Wing Efficiency Enhancement at Low Reynolds Number
The aerodynamic performance of wings degrades severely at low Reynolds number; lift often becomes non-linear, while drag increases significantly, caused by large extents of separation.

Soft swimming: Exploiting deformable interfaces for low-Reynolds number locomotion
Reciprocal movement cannot be used for locomotion at low-Reynolds number in an infinite fluid or near a rigid surface. Here we show that this limitation is relaxed for a body performing reciprocal motions near a deformable interface.

Hot‐Film and Calorimetric Methods With Transient Heating for Measurement of High Biofluid Flow Rate
Accurate measurement of biofluid flow rate is vital for clinical diagnostics. We propose a transient heating strategy using short thermal pulses and peak temperature tracking to enhance the flow sensitivity of the hot‐Film and calorimetric methods. Simulations show how optimal heating time maximizes sensitivity across flow rates.

The Performance of Discrete Models of Low Reynolds Number Swimmers
Swimming by shape changes at low Reynolds number is widely used in biology and understanding how the efficiency of movement depends on the geometric pattern of shape changes is important to understand swimming of microorganisms and in designing low ...
