An Improved Endpoint Detection Algorithm with Low Signal-to-Noise Ratio

2009 WRI World Congress on Computer Science and Information Engineering, 2009
An endpoint detection algorithm that combines expanded spectral subtraction with the SAP (speech absence probability) soft decision is proposed based on traditional methods. The algorithm employs a method of expanded spectral subtraction based on the noise compensation structure, which can estimate the noise during speech presence. A method of endpoint

Low-Complexity Iterative Synchronization for A Robust Receiver at Low Signal-to-Noise Ratios

VTC Spring 2008 - IEEE Vehicular Technology Conference, 2008
The problem of carrier and clock synchronization without a training sequence for a robust receiver working at low signal-to-noise (SNR) ratios is considered. Both short packet and long burst transmission scenarios are taken into account. A low-complexity iterative symbol timing and carrier synchronization algorithm making use of the extrinsic ...

Sinusoidal frequency estimation at low signal‐to‐noise ratio

Journal of the Chinese Institute of Engineers, 1993
Abstract In this paper, an algorithm is developed to estimate the frequencies of the sinusoids corrupted by white noise. First, the input data is analyzed by a large order autoregressive (AR) spectral estimator, and then we root the prediction error filter (PEF) to get a set of zeros.

LoRa Signal Synchronization and Detection at Extremely Low Signal-to-Noise Ratios

IEEE Internet of Things Journal, 2022
In recent years, LoRa has been deployed in countless Internet of Things (IoT) applications across the globe. However, as LoRa is a proprietary technology, research into its physical-layer performance has been challenging. Implementing LoRa on software defined radio (SDR) platforms yields valuable insight into the physical layer of the LoRa standard and

Detecting the Number of Signals at Low Signal-to-Noise Ratios

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
To improve the multi-target detection performance of sensor arrays at low signal-to-noise ratios, a new method called DTAE(Detection Technique based on Approximate Eigenvectors)is proposed. In the proposed method, the approximate eigenvectors of the signal subspace corresponding to the estimate of the source cluster centroid are computed first, then ...

Properties of Error-Correcting Codes at Low Signal-to-Noise Ratios

SIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics, 1967
In this paper, the use of error-correcting codes on a white Gaussian channel is considered as the signal-to-noise ratio approaches zero. The system with which a fixed code is compared is the system which does not code but preserves the information rate.

Signal to Noise Ratio in Stem and Low-Loss Images

Proceedings, annual meeting, Electron Microscopy Society of America, 1980
The number of pixels or resolution elements in STEM images has frequently been relatively low (< 105) and in many images only a few gray levels can be distinguished. This is surprising considering the high brightness of the electron sources used in most cases,

Maximum likelihood estimation of spectral moments at low signal to noise ratios

IEEE International Conference on Acoustics Speech and Signal Processing, 1993
A maximum likelihood (ML) estimator of spectral moments of a zero-mean complex Gaussian vector process, immersed in independent additive Gaussian white noise is proposed. The covariance function is assumed known in advance, apart from a vector of parameters which are related with the spectral moments.

Accurate frequency estimation at low signal-to-noise ratio

IEEE Transactions on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 1984
A frequency estimator for sinusoids in white noise is described. Convergence results are obtained for the single sinusoid case and a simulation described for the multiple sinusoid case. The estimator is shown to be capable of providing accurate frequency estimates at lower SNR's than currently existing techniques.
